Comments about Canson Universal Sketch Pad:
I am new to the sketching world so I was looking for a good quality sketch pad but not an expensive one. I found this one and the pricing was great and so was the shipping cost and time This was truly a great deal all the way around.

This sketch book is just right
from Midvale, UT
My intention in shopping for sketch books this time around was to skimp a little on quality or aesthetic so I could get a good deal and order multiple sketchbooks at once. Quantity was the name of the game. I ordered 20 of the 8.5"x5.5" version so I could separate the different types of drawings I do into their own books, so I was very happy to find that these were on sale. The size is perfect-- big enough to really get some more fully-fleshed ideas on the paper, but small enough to take out of the house. The paper is a very nice quality for sketch paper, though I've found I need to be just a little more careful about not smudging my marks. Why not 5 stars? Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the sketch books as far as I can tell so far. I just think 5 stars comes from a product that offers some wow-factor, and these books aren't "wow" good, they're just good. Also, it's more of a me-problem, but I always worry about spiral-bound books, because I have a nasty habit of getting those things bent out of shape.Overall, a good product that I got for a really good deal, and am wholly satisfied with.

Versatility at a great price.

I've used this sketchbook almost exclusively for a very long time. The paper quality is pretty good, covers are sturdy and the wire binding doesn't get tangled or unravel.

Best Sketchbook for Students
By Rumriver Art
from Anoka MN
I use these sketchbooks for my after school art classes. Its perfect size and quality for the students to use on all sorts of projects. I like to gesso the cover so the students create their own cover.
Great sketchbook for pencil illustrations!
I draw illustrations more than ten years as a student artist and I choose CANSON's sketchbook because of the best paper quality. Probably this "Universal Sketch Pad" series is a bit thin for marker colors (ink stains next page) but perfect for pen and pencil drawings.I was using 9"x12" size book (is almost same size as your school binder) before and now I'm using 11"x14" books to draw more figure and details. It's a spiral bound book which has a perforated line to separate sheets from the book (so the actual size of the book is about 3/4 inch wider). The front cover is a thin sheet but back cover is a thick cardboard and you can take it anywhere to draw without a drawing board.
