Comments about Canson Mi-Teintes Drawing Papers:
Canson makes a nice line of colored papers suitable for college or high school art students. Nice variety of pigment paper colors of photography backdrops. Texture suitable for chaulk and other dry medium. Sturdy sheets suitable for drawing board in life drawing class. Good value per sheet. Reminds me of when I carried sheets in portfolio to academy drawing studio classes.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Perfect for Pastels!
from Liberty Twp, OH
Comments about Canson Mi-Teintes Pads:
I've been a professional portrait artist for 40 years, and my preferred medium is pastel. This is the BEST pastel paper, and is the only kind I'll use. Both sides have a great "tooth" for holding the medium (I prefer the smoother side because it doesn't leave a "pattern" on the drawing). It's heavy, and comes in a nice variety of colors. You can feel the quality as soon as you touch this paper. The price of this paper has remained rather steady throughout the years - it's very affordable. It really holds the chalk. I love this stuff, and always keep a big supply of it on hand.

Great for Pastel Portraits!

I love this paper for portraits. I use the smooth side instead for my work. I dislike the textured side for the type of artwork that I do because it leaves a basketball like texture over my work. The paper holds my constant rubbing and blending, holds the color and keeps the pastels locked on the paper. I love it. I also will use sanded paper but mi-tienes paper is good for when you want a softer look and when you want to use the colors in the paper through your artwork. Highly recommend. Also, I received some paper with a few dents in it. I'm extremely picky with my supplies. Dick Blick is by far the best supplier. They paid for me to ship it back and resent what I requested. They have also given me 100% refunds every time I was unsatisfied. I have been using them for over 10 years now, they are always the best price and I will not use any other supplier.

In attending life drawing sessions, I save my Canson Mi-Teintes paper for the "long pose" after doing short warm-ups in a sketch pad. I generally like Sepia or black conte sticks. By choosing one of the mid to dark sheets of paper I do high-lights for a dramatic effect. One side of the paper is rougher and holds more pastel crayon; the other works well for softer effects.
