Rag Photographique is a 100% cotton, museum-grade white fine art paper developed by Canson to meet the longevity requirements of the digital fine art market. The natural minerals used in its manufacture render an extra-smooth white surface with a sensual feel and one of the highest Dmax ratings available. It is ideal for fine art photography as well as fine art printmaking.
Rag Photographique is compatible with pigmented and dye inks, dries instantly, is water-resistant, and contains no optical brightening agents. Internally buffered and acid-free, it was designed to meet the longevity requirements of galleries and museums.

Definitely a paper to try, you may just love this paper.
from Central Minnesota
Comments about Canson Infinity Rag Photographique:
The colors are lush and they just "pop" with this paper. It is an easy paper to become your "go-to" paper. If you have not tried flat sheen papers, this is one to try. With many images you almost "fall into" the image because of the crispness of the print. The sample with the lightning registers a wider range of colors than appears on the computer printer, so this paper will bring out further dimension with many images. It is best to use spacers or a mat between the print and glass or acrylic, something to keep the print away from the glass to avoid problems in the future. On a technical note, and your mileage may vary- Most color printers are not made for fine art papers, and sometimes when they are, you may have an image that is predominantly black for background with a very bright highlight- such as images of the moon; "sometimes" some printers may leave a burnished spot on this paper. This is something to watch for only because that mark usually does not appear on other prints with less extreme dynamics. It is mostly the fault of the printer, and many are not adjustable. Using a "nonglare" glass in the frame is worth trying if you encounter this. If your printer has a flat input feed tray, you should have little problem; it is when the paper has to bend around the pickup wheel where this occurs.. This is definitely a paper that is easy to fall in love with, even with the potential minor limitation.

With an excellent printer, the
The paper gives a "lush" feel to images that you just do not get with regular glossy photopapers. Unfortunately these images cannot do justice for them in real life.

Replacement for LumiJet paper

A great replacement for discontinued LumiJet Photo White 270gm papers. Retains Fine detail and color.

Exquisite whites. I printed a few different scenic images, one of which was of grass with frost on it backlit by the sun, and the image just "pops". A different scenic, which I had aimed for a "water color" type of quality to the image, also produced some very nice results. However just to check to see what the more textured back side would produce (which is not considered the side to print on), the image lost some of the effect I could get from the correct side and began to show "dots" rather than blending smoothly. Unfortunately, any image I would attach to this would lose all effect. Give it a try, the flat sheen adds a dimension for many images that get lost with glossy finishes.

Print followed by layering inks: great!

My printer is not able to adjust to the color density I like, so I run my Derwent Inktense prints, then add more color til I get the vivid colors I want. Great depth of transparency then.
The Canon Infinity Rag Photographique paper has an extra smooth surface and dries instantly. I highly recommend this paper for use with Fine Art photography.

One of my favorite matte photo papers
Initially, I bought the Rag Photographique 310gsm in 11x17 inch size because one of my favorites--Epson Hot Press Natural--does not come in this size. What I discovered is that the Canson paper is superb in every respect. The finish is smooth and the color is a clean natural white without OBAs. The downloaded ICC profiles from Canson Infinity's website are excellent and I'm very happy with results in my color photographs printed using them. The paper is more expensive than the Epson Hot Press in comparable sheet sizes but the quality is tops. It's a little lower in price than Hahnemuhle's equivalent Photo Rag Ultra Smooth and I generally prefer the Canson since the Hahnemuhle paper uses a small amount of OBAs and I try to avoid them. Another alternative--Moab Entrada Rag Natural--is also a very good choice at a slightly lower price although I had some minor problems using Moab's suggested media settings with my printer. Overall, this is one of the finest matte papers I've used for my color photographs. I've not used all the papers available of this type so I can't say it's the "best in its category". It would be my most used matte finish paper except for the price.

Fantastic inkjet photo paper.
from Jewett City CT.
I bought a canson multi-pack to experience several of their digital papers. After printing on all the papers with my inkjet printer I was convinced that this paper was perfect for my photographs. The 210 weight was about as high as my printer would handle. The color jumps right off the paper and looks great. The Canson glossy papers are also very nice.
Canson has adapted their most popular art papers by coating them for inkjet printing and also created several new papers for their digital line. All papers are fine art and archival quality for lasting works of art.
