Baryta Photographique is a true Baryta paper developed for inkjet technology. It consists of an alpha-cellulose, acid-free pure white paper with the same barium sulphate coating as for traditional silver halide, and a premium inkjet color receiver layer.
Baryta Photographique offers the look and aesthetic of the original darkroom baryta print and complies with the ISO 9706 standard for maximum longevity. This museum-grade photo paper shows excellent black density and great image sharpness, making it ideal for black-and-white photography. Baryta is internally buffered to resist gas fading and maximize the conversation of prints, and optimized for pigmented inks. It dries instantly and is water-resistant.

Canson Baryta Photographique
from Central Maine
This was an impulse buy for me at a local camera shop. I needed some 13x19 paper. Price was higher in comparison to HP or Epson papers but the first print I made was worth it. The moderate lustre surface gives the image an almost 3D look without reflections. The shadows and ripples on the water in the image were quite vivid and had depth when printed on my Epson R2000 printer. The print hangs nicely in the mat and frame with a backer board due to the 310 gram weight of the paper. I expect that I will not see the usual wrinkling and puckering I have had with lighter weight papers after being on display for a while due to light, heat and humidity. It is my hope that I can conservation mount my images with French hinges and avoid the excessive use of tapes and spray adhesives while preserving the integrity of the print for years to come.Give each sheet an air dusting before running through the printer. I had a couple specks of dust that were printed over and then was left with tiny white spots in a blue sky when the dust fell off after handling. Handle the print carefully and try to avoid rubbing it with a sharp edge like your fingernail. The rub marks will be evident when held at the right angle to the light.I just produced seven images for sale to the HR department of my local hospital. They are awarding the framed pieces to long-term employees at a ceremony coming up in June. I feel quite confident about using Canson Baryta paper for this project.
