Very good paper
from Tucson, AZ
Comments about Canson C' a Grain Drawing Pad:
I really liked this paper for graphite/charcoal, but I do not recommend it for colored pencil. There is too much tooth of the paper for it.

Great texture for pencil
from Los Angeles CA
The rougher side of these sheets is just rough enough to take pencil perfectly, allowing for crisp lines and subtle gradations in shading. Having the smoother flip side is a nice change from time to time, especially if working in ink.

My favorite paper of all time!
from Chicago, IL
I'm a portrait artist and this paper has been the one I almost always choose for my graphite or charcoal drawings. It has the perfect tooth to hold. Multiple layers of neither media allowing me to build tones and textures. Yet it's smooth enough to keep my portraits from looking grainy. Using a paint brush to blend, combined with this paper produces a very realistic skin texture as you can see in my image. I recommend this paper to all pencil artists!

Great heavyweight drawing paper
By Sam H.
This paper is tough. It's sturdy. It's a heavyweight, durable drawing paper with a unique texture - I haven't found anything else really similar to it. The texture is quite strong, and the surface is fairly "hard" feeling. I find that it closely approximates the texture of skin when used with graphite, and makes great paper for graphite portraits. I also like it with compressed charcoal. The paper is excellent for blending with all mediums I've tried. It's also worth noting that the back of the paper offers a finer textured surface.

Excellent medium-tooth heavyweight
from New Jersey
The color of this paper is natural white. Quality-wise, it's one grade above the Strathmore 400 series and two grades above Canson's Classic Cream. Unlike the Classic Cream, the C a Grain truly possesses a medium tooth. It is much sturdier and is ideal for pencil, ink, and colored pencil. It fully allows for colored pencil layering techniques and is better suited for blending colors. The texture is truly a delight and seems to improve the overall appearance of my drawings. I can't think of anything not to like about this pad. While it's a bit more expensive than the others I've mentioned, it's well worth the extra money.
Canson's range of dual surface papers offer not only quality and versatility but are also economical. This video will introduce you to each of these special sheets.
