I am a beginner and gave in to temptation: got a whole lot of brushes and paints and papers. This is by far the best. Like the other reviewer said, it has two sides: one rough and one smooth. One for bold strokes and one for detailed work. The surface is uniform, takes a lot of abuse (lifting, rework). I got the 300 gsm one as a block. Even with plenty of water it retains its shape and flatness. The small gap on the block for separating too is neat. The price too is reasonable.

I ordered the 30"x22" paper and cut it into smaller pieces (5.5"x7.5") for my paintings. This method plus the discount for buying 10 or more sheets made the purchase a fantastic deal.
Using professional quality watercolor paper really does make a BIG difference in the final product. What I love about this paper is that I can choose whether to use the "rough" or "cold press" side of each paper. I use the rough side for wet-on-wet work and when I'm emphasizing dry brush techniques. The cold press side is very nice for more detailed or wet-on-dry techniques -- as well as for creating paintings with my watercolor pencils.
The paper also held up well when I needed to lift out mistakes by using a scrubbing brush. (Mistakes happen to all of us ;-)
Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality of this watercolor paper and will continue buying it.
