Perfect for my purpose
from Bow, WA
Comments about Camellia Student Watercolor Set:
Good quality paints and a teensy brush for working on a really small scale, allowed for maintaining control of the medium. I used these these with adult art students, and everyone was pleased.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

THE PRODUCT DID NOT SERVE MY NEED.

I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN THE SMALL SIZE OF THE CAKES. I HAD INTENDED THESE FOR USE IN A CLASS FOR ADULTS IN A HOMELESS SHELTER. I WISH THE DIMENSIONS HAD BEEN PUBLISHED SO I COULD BETTER JUDGE THE PRODUCT BEFORE MY ORDER. MY IDEA IS TO HAVE THE STUDENTS FEEL FREE TO MAKE LARGE MARKS AND THESE DO NOT FILL THE BILL. THE COLORS ARE NICE THOUGH.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for reaching out! The diameter of the individual pans is about 15mm (19/32"). We're sorry if that was not what you expected, and we're happy to help with a return or exchange. Just call 1-800-723-2787 to speak to a Customer Care Agent.
Easy to use, fun to play with
from Durham NC
Recently, being retired, I was inspired to play with watercolor as a way to make small pictures, bookmarks and greeting cards for friends. This watercolor set, being small, was exactly what I needed to try out my skills without becoming intimidated. The colors blend beautifully, and my first efforts were completely successful. I especially like the yellow-green. I have since given several sets to friends. These gifts are always greatly appreciated.
Favorite watercolor set ever!
from Durham, NC
I'm not a professional artist, but this small watercolor set has inspired me to try my hand at making greeting cards--and it's so much fun! This particular set is just the right size and the colors blend beautifully. The price is very reasonable--so I've given sets to friends and family for them to try. We may not be perfectionists, but it's so satisfying to make cards that are unique and lovely for the people we love.

This was a Christmas gift for my daughter. She absolutely loves it!
very very small....paintbrush tiny also.
I was surprised at how little this set was. The brush is also so little it would only be good for outlining. I have not used this set yet since I purchased for kids visiting. I am not sure about the quality of the paint.
Merchant response: We're sorry if this watercolor set wasn't what you expected. A member of our Customer Care Team will be following up with you to offer information on a return or exchange.
Not a good value for its quantity
The paint circles inside are as small as the tip of my pinky-smallest finger. I have seen much better quantity and variety of colors for this price in arts and crafts stores.
Merchant response: We are sorry to hear that this set did not meet your expectations. Our Customer Care team is happy to help you with a return or exchange for another set that might work out better. Please give us a call at 1.800.723.2787 for further assistance. We hope to hear from you soon!

I am a professional artist. I bought these to use on a Fraktur. The pigments are NOT finely ground, which causes the paints to have a gritty, chalky texture. In addition, while these paints look bright while being applied, it seems the colors fade from the painting a little more each day. I used the paint full-strength, using as little water as possible, and still the colors fade. I also tried applying several thin washes and the colors still fade. I am now on my seventh coat of paint and the colors continue to fade. These might be fine for a child, but I would think they might be disappointed as they watch their creation fade away. I certainly cannot recommend these paints for professional use. Incidently, I have some watercolor paintings that I did over 35 years ago. They were done in school with the typical watercolors available at that time. The brand name may have been Peacock, but I'm not sure. They have not faded in all these years.
