This sketchbook is a winner with my drawing and painting students! They love the color choices and the spiral-less spine in the mid-section. The wire binding keeps the sketchbook open and flat during the work process, while allowing the artist to freely develop the page without the hand becoming hampered by the wire binding. The weight and texture of the paper also works well for sketches in graphite, ink, watercolor, and pastel, as well as for light relief media and collage work. We take notes, do preliminary sketches, medium samples, and detailed form studies -- it's an excellent vehicle for creative study and inspiring visual springboards!

I use these for pencil sketches as well as with my Pigma Micron pens, and Faber Castell Brush markers, and they really hold up. The paper is thick enough that there is little to no show through, which is important to me. These are perfect for carrying along when I am out and about. I love the elastic band that holds the sketchbook together and open to the page I am working on, and how it holds it closed when not in use. Also it is nice to have a sketchbook with color on the cover, black covers are okay, but a bit boring.
I just wish that they weren't so expensive so I could get more!

I love the Cachet Wirebound Sketchbook for plein aire painting. I use mine to do my value sketches before painting. It fits nicely into my painting bag, isn't too heavy, the elastic band keeps the page open while I'm painting so I can refer to my value sketch as I paint, and is tough enough to stand up to the rigors of outdoor work. Love it.
