Love these books!
Comments about Cachet Classic Black Cover Sketchbook:
I buy these books over and over for personal use and my residencies in schools. There are several sizes to choose from, my favorite is the square shape. These artistic Journals are very loved so the outside edge gets worn. I deco podge the edges with the students and it not only makes them unique but holds the binding together.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The only sketch book I use, been using for 20 years
from Buffalo, NY
Just what I was looking for in a sketchbook. Solid, hardcover. Pagers are a great weight. Gave 1 to each of my sons as they both draw too! Thank you!

One of the Best Hardbound Sketchbooks!
from New York, NY
This is a fantastic sketchbook to use pens on. The pages do little to no bleeding, and it is a nice, hardbound sketchbook that keeps the pages from being ripped out easily. It is much better than a spiral sketchbook as it holds the paper more together, as well as it being more aesthetically pleasing. It is also durable, and I prefer this over a spiral sketchbook because it would not bend so easily. (It wouldn't bend at all!)

I'm an art student, and I've been really impressed with this sketchbook so far. I bought over 7 sketchbooks of different brands/kinds for my different classes, (partially because I needed different kinds, partially because I wanted to try out some brands I don't usually use), and I was very impressed with this. Nice quality, paper seems good for sketching, though perhaps not for wet media (haven't tried it for anything other than sketching yet). Pen shows through (you can see that pen was used on the previous page), but I haven't seen it bleed through. Paper's nice and smooth, though not very thick. I'm happy with it. The pages turn well, and even though it's hardbound, it lies flat when open. For an everyday sketchbook it's nice. Perhaps not as good for more in-depth work (a better quality paper would be good for finished pieces), but this does what I want.

I used this product to make a journal for my daughter by adding photos to random pages through out the book. It's beautiful paper and well bound.

I was really excited to receive these fancy sketch books. They are nice except for the fact that the pages are too transparent. And for someone who skips around in a sketch book, that not ideal.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Cachet sketchbooks not so great anymore
from River Forest, IL
I bought this because I had good luck with the last Cachet sketchbook I bought (2 years ago). That book was able to take light washes and the 70 lb paper feels substantial and opaque. The paper in this book, on the other hand, feels flimsy in comparison, though it purports to be 70 lb. I tried a light wash and the paper buckled badly. You can see through it easily. I ordered online because the 7" x 7" size isn't in my Blick store so I wasn't able to inspect the paper before buying. On top of it, the book arrived with two "dings," one each on the bottom of the front and back covers. I should have returned it but tried to use it instead. Bad decision.
