I was so happy to receive this pencil sharpener. I have some big pencils from long ago that I never could sharpen because the standard sharpener hole was not big enough. This one handles them plus any other sizes and is so well made. It is a real heavy duty machine that will probably last a lifetime. I am so glad that I bought it. The service was excellent too!

This product has freed me forever from handheld sharpeners that go dull after a few weeks of use. I like the wall mount, too.

It is the quality I was used to in the old Boston pencil sharpener. Regrettably it is now produced in China by X-Acto (also a brand I always appreciated in the past). I will have to wait some time to see whether it works reliably as long as its ancestors produced in the States

My main reason to use it rather than the competing Caran d'Ache product (a tank of a product not to be destroyed by anything) is that it cuts a longer cone, i.e. more of the lead is available, an important point for those who draw. For pure office work I would prefer the Caran d'Ache because of it's sturdiness.

I bought this for my kids (4 and 2 years old). They love to sharpen their own pencils now and the sharpener does a great job with all sorts of colored pencil types. My only complaint is that the add in the catalog sad "Made in the USA since 1936" but the unit was not made in the US.

This product while still the most durable pencil sharpener I could obtain is not built to the standards that it was in years past.
I have used this sharpener of varying ages in many institutional settings and I was dissapointed that the sharpener I received was not of the quality of these older but supposedly equal sharpeners.
In spite of that it is a durable and functional sharpener.
