This versatile 90 lb multi-purpose paper can be used with both wet and dry media. This is an acid-free, medium surface sulfite bond paper with excellent tooth and erasability.
Use it with watercolor, pen-and-ink, markers, pencil, charcoal, pastel, and light washes. Cloth-bound pads each contain 40 sheets and are bound on the short side.

Good but Not for Ink
from NY, NY
This sketch paper outperforms even higher-grade drawing and mixed media papers in many ways. The surface holds up very well with watercolor and gouache: no pilling and not much buckling (even without taping it down). And, not surprisingly, dry media like graphite, charcoal, and conte, lays down superbly. At 40 sheets per pad, it offers more paper than most brands. The one major caveat--and disappointment for me--is, this paper cannot take India or calligraphy ink. I tried each type of ink, with both a pen/nib and a brush, and the inks feather really badly. Considering this product is labeled for "pen & ink," I consider this a major drawback. Maybe markers would be better, but I don't work in that medium. The second, slightly minor problem is, the first 15 sheets or so had a 1/8" crease along the edge of 3 of the 4 sides, as if the paper cutter (or whatever machine is used to bind the pads) wasn't set correctly.Overall, this is a good product and a great value, but if you work in ink, skip it!
Very nice paper, happy with the quality

Superb service and unusual care in packing product

I have been a fan of Borden & Riley papers since art school. They have a range of acid free paper and pads priced for the student but good enough for artists. Youcan save those quick sketches you love so much and know they will not fall apart in 10 years :)The problem of buying large unyielding pads 24 x 36 inches is that they usually show up with bumped and squashed corners. Blick double protected the corners so what I got was beautiful perfect pads. I'm very impressed and will go back for more. Thank you so much, guys :)

Pencil erases easily and prismacolor marker don't bleed too bad.

Good Art Paper for Budding Artists
from Provo, Utah
This was a Xmas gift for my 11 year old grandson. He loves to draw and began using the paper right away. I can't say much about its quality, as I didn't use it, but he was satisfied with it.

Fantastic sketching paper!
from San Francisco, CA
I bought this paper thinking it was a heavy paper I could use markers on. Well, I was wrong. However, it did turn out to be a fantastic toothy paper for sketching via pencil or pen.I don't use sketchbooks anymore because I like the freedom of rotation with a loose sheet of paper and the storage that comes with being able to file away finished sketches and drawings at will. I buy a few of these at 11x14 and pull out all the sheets and then draw on them when needed. It's thick enough that you can sketch on both sides nicely and it's also great for sketching out an image and then lightboxing it to a heavier paper like Borden & Riley Paris Bleedproof Paper For Pens or 300 series Strathmore Bristol. It is a pure white so you won't be able to pop sketches with white ink or pencil. It does take markers (I use copic) but it bleeds nigh instantly, so a bottom sheet is a must if you want to use markers on it. I sometimes use a black marker for composition to make things pop.all and all it's my favorite paper for sketching. I just pull one from the stack and draw, no worries about rings or hard covers and spines. Oh and it's super adorable.

NOTE: This is a 'Vellum Finish' *paper*

A lot of people, myself included, bought this thinking it was Vellum. It is not. It is a high density (90 lb) medium-tooth paper, suitable for a wide variety of drawing media.

Nice Paper, But Not Transparent
from New York
This is a good quality paper, and able to take mixed media, but I was looking for a more transparent paper. I ordered online, and I would have done better had I seen an example in the store.
