It IS a studio grade paper
Comments about Blick Studio Watercolor Paper by Fabriano:
I used this paper for water color. I didn't try to stretch the paper, like soak the paper in water then tape down with gum paper tape till it dries. I simply taped down the edges with normal tape, and it buckled to the point that it was ripping the tape off the board. It is, however, a pretty cheap watercolor paper, and I was able to paint on it. But, I wouldn't use it for serious class works.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I ordered 100 sheets of 22" x 30" watercolor paper. I have done the same from other sources but the corners were not well protected so you might get sheets with a bend on one corner. The Blick package was well protected at the corners so no bends! When you order by mail you do not want the trouble of damaged goods or something that has to be sent back. Packaging is important and I am glad Blick recognizes that.

Thicker Studio Paper for Students
from Ogden, UT
I use this watercolor paper with my more advanced students. It's a great weight and more durable than most classroom papers for watercolor.

no deckled edges
It's absorption is ok, and its ok for average work, but the cotton content or richness is not there, and I miss the deckled edges. Just average. For nicer pieces, I will stick with Arches.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Exactly how it should be
from Lawrence, KS
This paper is a nice consistant mid grade paper. It has a percentage of wood pulp that makes it durable, with enough cotton to give a nice surface texture. I prefer it to any paper I've tried (including most of the big names across all quality ranges). I use it for full sheet and half sheet paintings, and I also fold it up to make sketch-pads.Other student and acedemic grade papers seem cardboard-y to me, while the full artist quality papers seem too fragile for the way I work.

I sampled a whole range of watercolor papers and this turns out to be my favorite, price no object. And as it turns out it's quite inexpensive.the surface texture is nice, if a bit machine-made looking, and the construction of the paper seems to be a nice comprimise of the sturdy, if cardboard-y feeling typical of 'student' grade papers and the brittle rattle-y-ness typical of most artist grade papers. It tears controlably, unlike most student papers, but it doesn't seem to want to break apart if you fold it, like many artist's papers I've tried. Also: it doesn't seem to use animal geletin sizing like many artist's papers, which means it doesn't have that wet dog smell when it gets wet.

Not Great for WC
By Cindy in SD
from Black Hills, South Dakota
If you buy this paper for acrylic, multi-media, collage, pen and ink, colored pencil, etc., you'll probably be satisfied with it. I did quite a lot of work on this paper with watercolor and I just can't make it work. When it comes to wc paper, I think the old adage is true; you get what you pay for. I'll probably use what I have left to make journals. It would be okay for that, as mostly I'm working fairly dry. It doesn't have the type of absorbency qualities you need with watercolor and it's too easily damaged. Like I said, okay for small, dry brush vignettes, but much more than that and you're not going to be happy.
