A synthetic brush that actually feels like a bristle brush!
The result of years of development, the individual filaments have the extreme taper of natural bristle and are gently coaxed with heat to a natural curve. Ideal for the new water-mixable oil paints, these brushes retain their stiffness in water. They are also less susceptible to the ravages of acrylic paint. They cost a bit more than bristle, but may save you in the long run.

Really excellent brushes!

Comments about Blick Studio Synthetic Brushes:
Good brushes help make an artist better! I personally prefer a stiff brush, but one that doesn't leave brush strokes as I want that real life look, and I am NOT trying to make it look like a painting!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Wonderful Brushes for the Task at Hand!
from Wellsboro, Pa
We used these to paint inside quart and half-gallon mason jars to make fireflies that lit up in the evening. The longer handles made it nice that, for once, we didn't come out looking like we smeared the paint all over the project and ourselves. The size of the brush made our little dabs just the perfect size for the firefly light!

great middle of the road work horse tool
from dickinson, tx
Several years ago, when I was getting reset up to go back to studio activities, I purchased numerous brushes from Blick to use for various media including oil, acrylic, watercolor, etc. At the time, the brushes seemed expensive, but they cost a small fraction of todays' prices. Still, I had great inhibition to charge into using my best "priceless" brushes until I had made my first several hundred bad paintings, so as not to wear out the best ones and have to replace too soon, as I would be doing lots of experimental work. So I limited myself to the studio synthetics mainly to begin.Today, years later, I am still using those studio synthetics and love them, for doing any and all media. Yes, I have used some of the better brushes off and on for particular uses, but I still find myself leaning heavily for the studio synthetics particularly for the less pristeen detailed work, but that is not to say these will not do the job; I just try to make good use of all I have. I do a lot of heavy action mark making and painting with the side of the brush, so I can get pretty brutal at time and these brushes hold up. My most used is the #8 round, and it has started to show wear, and deservingly so. The brushes have not freyed or gotten out of shape. I like the strong stiff feel with a certain spring and give. Even doing water color and gouache, the brushes hold lots of fluid and make nice marks, though the kolinsky sables are much better for much of that work. I do like the master synthetics very much, not to mention the sables and bristles, but again, most of the work is done with the one type. I do not mean to say one should not consider other brushes, for other work type, or that other types are not better for a specific type, but simply mean to point out the versatility, flexibility, and strength against wear and abuse, and that these are worth investing in.

excellent for water mix oil
worried as not used blick brand brushes and usually don't buy a bundle of brushes. am new to water mix oils...have taught using them but used tradtional oils for own work. Had a hard time finding brushes that would work with water mix oils. These and artisan worked when others I tried did not. Almost gave up on water based oil but now will continue using it.
BEST brushes for acrylics
my acrylics love these brushes
