I recently finished a gallon of Blick's Master Gesso and just now bought Blick's Studio Gesso to save eight bucks and some change. Big mistake. I'm now in my fourth coat on hardboard and it still isn't covering very well. Very thin, watery consistency. Probably more cost-effective in the long run to buy the better brand.

I just purchased a gallon on sale in the store. I'm very happy with it. I did have to do a bit of mixing as the product had separated. I poured 1/2 into another container and mixed as the container was quite full. The resulting product had a smooth consistency that was easy to apply straight out of the container. It covered my canvas nicely, and was smoother than I expected. I will buy this again.

I used this gesso for the first time. I've only prepped five different paintings, but thought it had good consistency and coverage. The tooth seems to be smoother than I expected, but that's not a complaint, just an observation. So far, I give it a good rating especially for the price compared to other brands.

First time buying this product-bought 2,used both and loved how easy it is to work with and the final results. I've come back for 2 more and will continue to purchase this product on an as needed basis which will be many many more purchases!
