We were given these pencils in one of my college drawing classes. They are certainly quality pencils and MUCH better than the typical cheap pencil set, however I think I will only use these for student work and stick to my more expensive ones for professional work. I would recommend them if you need quality cheaply priced/student pencils.

OK, this is just my initial reaction to these pencils. I bought them, along with sets of Staedtler Lumograph, Caran D'Ache, Derwent, Cretacolor, Faber-Castell, and Tombows all for the purpose of doing my own comparisons. Honestly, I picked up the Blick pencils because they were so inexpensive and I thought it would be interesting to check them out in comparison to the "high-end" pencils and then probably gift them to someone else as a starter set.
Well...they may not be getting gifted. I started off putting all the pencils through the paces with a simple tone chart based on their hardness rating 9B-9H depending on what each brand produces. To my great surprise, and delight, the Blick pencils had a remarkably comparable laydown and feel to many of the high end pencils.
Great job Blick!!!

i am a comic book artist and i use blick stdio pencils for my sketches. I sharpen them once and the hole pencil lead crumbles. even though its sixty some cents i feel its a waste.
