Great quality product for a great value.
Comments about Blick Studio Bristol Pads:
I bought this product for use with india ink, and I am very happy with it. The paper is really smooth and heavy enough that it doesn't seep trough. Plus, you can also by two packs for the price of a single pack of another brand. Amazing product and amazing value!!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great paper for a great price for a first time buyer.

After seeing a local artist use this type of paper I just had to try it. But I found name brands a little pricey so I picked this one. Good quality I like how my choice of medium first marker then color pencils went so sell on the page.

Block Bristol pads
I used this paper for my 3D design class. It's flexible enough & sturdy enough for paper sculpture.
Provides additional options for my drawings!

Good, economical bristol, not too good for ink
By Brenda L.
from Manchester, CT
I bought a 14X17 Smooth pad of this to replace a pad of Strathmore 400 Series Smooth bristol. The paper itself felt a little thicker, so I thought it would take ink as well as the Strathmore. I use Holbein drawing ink with a brush and a dip pen, and I found that it takes the brushwork beautifully. Unfortunately, there was some minor bleeding with the dip pen that I didn't see with the 400 or even the 300 series Strathmore bristol. It also has a very slight texture to the paper, despite it being smooth and not velum.I haven't tried other mediums, such as marker, which previous reviews say this bristol handles well. From the few sheets I used, it seems like a good, economical bristol for a wide variety of projects. However, it is not suitable for dip pen work.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Good products at a good price
from Tucson, AZ
The Prismacolor line of markers is tough to beat with their quality and overall performance as well as how many colors they have in their lineup. The Dick Blick line gives them a good run for their money. From what I ordered they do run just as smooth and perform probably as well. The only thing I would change would be the color range the Dick Blick line has. Way too many grays for the ratio of overall markers they have. They could benefit from more reds, a yellow orange, aquamarine, blue violet and the like. Overall though not too bad.

I bought a pad of the smooth finish for an economical material to practice crowquill techniques on, but to my dismay the paper bleeds pretty badly when I use dip pens. The lines blur and feathe. This occurs regardless of the ink I use. However the paper seems to perform well enough for ordinary pens and markers, and can handle washes of diluted ink from a brush with minimal buckling. It's okay paper as long as you accept its limitations.
