These are unique gallery frames in a spectrum of colors! Each frame is painted and then sanded repeatedly to achieve a smooth, rich finish.
Two sets of back grooves accommodate both photographs and 3/4" or 7/8" canvases. Canvases that are 1-3/8" deep will extend flush with the back of the frame. Swing braces and backing board secure artwork.
These frames ship with an acrylic face as acrylic is lighter than glass and is less likely to shatter in transit.
Color Matching — We do our best to match the color of frames, both on our website photography and in our catalogs, but differences in technology may affect the appearance of the photo on your screen. You are entitled to return, for refund or credit, any frame that does not meet your expectations.
Frame Depth — The depth of a frame refers to the depth of the frame's rabbet (the cut-out area behind the frame's molding that holds your artwork in place). To find a frame that will accommodate your artwork, measure the depth of the artwork, including any matting or mounting materials, and order a frame with a depth that is, at a minimum, the same as that measured depth.
Frame Dimensions — Frames are sized by the opening, not by the outside of the molding. To determine the size of frame to order, measure the outside of your artwork, including mat, and order that size frame. The frame will overlap your artwork ¼" all the way around, so your artwork will fit nicely behind the frame's molding.

Comments about Blick Gallery Spectrum Frames:
I bought a lot of these over the years in many colors and sizes. They were always on sale at Blick on line and the end prices were super affordable. The color choices were fantastic for my multicolored artwork as well as my black and white photography and black and white ink / compressed charcoal works. I also liked the frames because they were had a nice depth and thickness and I could extend art on to them when I wanted.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

cheap frame, does fine work
worked in a pinch.

Needed a frame for a show quick and thought I would try these as it was on sale and going out of production. When I came I thought it looked substantial and the color was great, the corner was chipped on the back end and the backing was too high for my canvas so I had to do some funky padding thing and was worried it wouldn't stay together for hanging. Perhaps there's a trick but if there was more colors and sizes left I would buy some more though, as the price was right and the presentation and finish looked nice on the wall.

This is the first for me to try out this frame. I bought the grey which I really like. It is a subtle grey and did not over power my work. The only draw back, I accidently scratched one corner. I found the wood to be a bit soft but no problem for me, I just matched the color with my acrylic paint and voila' it worked. Then I started to think what if... what if I scratched up the whole frame and fixed it up to give it an antique look? I could do that if I wanted to and for this price it might be a fun experiment. But for now, I showed my work with the frame on and received ooo's and ah's. They even commented on how great the frame looked.
Very nice presentation for my students and a good value- I hope you will continue to offer these.

I really like these frames. I bought 5 of them for some of my artwork to hang in my office and I've had lots of compliments on on them. The colors are vivid and it was easy to put my drawings in them. The only thing that I would change is that the back board is basically cardboard, so it could be made of something more sturdy, but for the price they are nice frames!

end of a good thing

needed to frame up 4 new 12x12 canvas' for a sale i made and found out the frames were discontinued, but fortunately i got the last 5 in the color i needed.have been using these frames for the past 3 years and have been generally pleased with their performance, but they are not kind to any minor bumps or dings. i've had the corners crack open, but if handled properly, they look nice and display well.i have since moved to using the blick unfinished cradled hardwood panels. they perform much better for my fluid paint abstracts without the need to frame them.i guess things come to an end at some point. glad i was able to take advantage of these frames when i did.

I was looking for the perfect and easy frame for my cold wax and oil paintings. These framed the works tightly and professionally, having 2 different depths convienienced my substraights perfectly. I'm all ready for my next show!

I like the gallery frames for stretched canvas paintings. At home, I like the frame color to be consistent. The Espresso color is a great color - dark but not reddish like many of the dark browns. My only complaint is the acrylic face panel - the surface is always scratched. This is not a big deal since I don't use it for canvas framing, but it would be a problem when using for drawings, watercolor, etc. These frames are a great value for the price.
Best Frames I have Found

I use these frames for all my framing needs in my studio and gallery. I love them because they look very sharp and come with plexiglass instead of glass, which is a must because I travel around a lot with my pieces.
