I got this because it was a bargain, and I was trying to make the best use of my college money. I wish I'd spent a little more for a better easel.

It's quite wobbly, especially on carpeted floors. I put a 50+ lb. duffel bag on it to make it sturdier, but it wasn't perfect. It also doesn't collapse very well at all, so you'll need a permanent spot for it. It's adjustable to a point, but it needs grooves or something to hold the board/pad/canvas I'm working on.

I'm used to working with a low budget, so I've 'made do' with what I've got, but in hindsight, it would have been worth the extra money to get something that would be sturdier and collapsable when not in use. I especially do not recommend if you have limited floor space.

I recently decided to start painting again and needed all the essentials as mine had been lost over the years. I purchased this item on sale, knowing it was a cheaper alternative. Everything looked OK until I began assembly. The pre-drilled holes in the mast did not line up with the holes in the footboard or the bracket/hinge on the stand. After a few passes with a cordless drill I was able to put it together, but by and large a disappointing purchase.

The bottom edge of the tray to hold the canvas or board needs grooves and an edge to hold the board tightly in place so it will not move. If too much pressure is applied to drawing board or canvas it will move.

I bought these for my high school students because we don't have the budget for really good stuff. We used two and they fell apart so quickly that I didn't even bother taking the other two out of the box. Nothing tightens well so the easel is constantly falling apart or wobbly.
