Welcome to dickblick
An extremely versatile, beautifully simple, wood frame for paintings, prints, watercolors, photos, or mirrors. Choose from a variety of finishes, widths and rabbet depths to suit your needs.
The gold and silver leaf frames are hand-finished with the "Old World" technique of showing lines between each individual leaf which reveals a thin separation line.
Note — Hanging hardware not included.
Color Matching — We do our best to match the color of frames, both on our website photography and in our catalogs, but differences in technology may affect the appearance of the photo on your screen. You are entitled to return, for refund or credit, any frame that does not meet your expectations.
Frame Depth — The depth of a frame refers to the depth of the frame's rabbet (the cut-out area behind the frame's molding that holds your artwork in place). To find a frame that will accommodate your artwork, measure the depth of the artwork, including any matting or mounting materials, and order a frame with a depth that is, at a minimum, the same as that measured depth.
Frame Dimensions — Frames are sized by the opening, not by the outside of the molding. To determine the size of frame to order, measure the outside of your artwork, including mat, and order that size frame. The frame will overlap your artwork ¼" all the way around, so your artwork will fit nicely behind the frame's molding.
Open Back Frames — These frames are meant to be hung on the wall and are sold as just the frame face. They are not shipped with backing material, glazing material, or hanging hardware. The open back frames are commonly used for traditional profile stretched canvases.

Comments about Blick Simplon Plein Air Frames:
I have been doing a lot plain air landscapes this spring as I prepare to restock the galleries I supply but I waited too long to order your great plain air Gold frames, (those I have used in the past). These "Bronze" frames are very nice and, although a bit darker, they are still quite 'casually elegant'. I am sure they will be well received and please even the pickiest of collectors.Thank you, Dick Blick, my 2016 inventory is packed and ready to go!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

NOT AS NICE AS WHAT WE WERE BUYING BUT ALSO NOT AS EXPENSIVE
from LITTLE RIVER SC
TWO OF MY FRAMES WERE SCRATCHES VERY BAD ..THE GOLD LEAF ONES. WE JUST SCRATCHES SOME MORE OFF TO MAKE THEM LOOK OLD. ALSO THEY DO SEEM TO SCRATCH EASY. I LIKED THE PRICE AND FREE SHIPPING..WOULD LIKE SOME WITH A 4 OR 5 INCH THICKNESS IN GOLD LEAF WITH BLACK ACENTS. I AM AN ARTIST SO THESE PRICES REALLY HELPED. IN REVIEWING YOUR PRODUCT, YOU SHOULD HAVE AN "ABOVE AVERAGE" CATEGORY.I ALSO LOVE MY ROUND PALETTE..PLEASE KEEP THEM IN STOCK.BRT

Elegant and Economical

I used this frame to dress up a good quality painting from a yard sale. The painting was inexpensive but deserved a frame equal to its artistic quality. This frame fit both conditions. The mitered corners are smooth and hidden by the gold overlay. The gold attracts the eye to the piece but the Simplon style doesn't compete with the painting.

This frame (I have used it in gold, antique gold mostly) complements any subject matter in your painting. It's open, classy, understated, and dressy all at the same time. A fantastic buy for the quality and how it enhances colors in the painting.

These frames are very nice and an excellent value. Just be aware that the Fredrix Red Label canvases DO NOT fit in this frame which is disappointing. I've had to use carving tools to enlarge one edge. Wish I had known this because I also ordered Fredrix canvases and will have to have custom frames made. Fredrix canvases have extra bulk where the canvas is wrapped around the frame.

You get what you pay for. Found that the gold leaf and silver leaf needed to be replaced with not much better.
