Welcome to dickblick
An extremely versatile, beautifully simple, wood frame for paintings, prints, watercolors, photos, or mirrors. Choose from a variety of finishes, widths and rabbet depths to suit your needs.
The gold and silver leaf frames are hand-finished with the "Old World" technique of showing lines between each individual leaf which reveals a thin separation line.
Note — Hanging hardware not included.
Color Matching — We do our best to match the color of frames, both on our website photography and in our catalogs, but differences in technology may affect the appearance of the photo on your screen. You are entitled to return, for refund or credit, any frame that does not meet your expectations.
Frame Depth — The depth of a frame refers to the depth of the frame's rabbet (the cut-out area behind the frame's molding that holds your artwork in place). To find a frame that will accommodate your artwork, measure the depth of the artwork, including any matting or mounting materials, and order a frame with a depth that is, at a minimum, the same as that measured depth.
Frame Dimensions — Frames are sized by the opening, not by the outside of the molding. To determine the size of frame to order, measure the outside of your artwork, including mat, and order that size frame. The frame will overlap your artwork ¼" all the way around, so your artwork will fit nicely behind the frame's molding.
Open Back Frames — These frames are meant to be hung on the wall and are sold as just the frame face. They are not shipped with backing material, glazing material, or hanging hardware. The open back frames are commonly used for traditional profile stretched canvases.

Different Than Depicted

Comments about Blick Simplon Plein Air Frames:
The frame is wood and well made, my disappointment is with the finish. I ordered 4 of these frames in total in the silver leaf and gold leaf finishes. The online image looks like it is done with actual leafing, with the crinkled edges of the leaf squares and the base color showing in sections. What I received was a painted frame with unconvincing scratch marks to simulate leafing. In addition the paint flaked off while I was taking them out of the box and chips off very easily. Will say they were well packaged. I plan on applying gold and silver leaf myself to get the look I want. Overall, I'm disappointed. I would not recommend these frames unless purchasing on sale and ok with fixing the finish.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Exceptional beauty and value

Beautiful frame that is well made and nicely proportioned for the painting I mounted. Blick frames make my work look that much better! When I give paintings as gifts the frames look much more expensive than they were. I have never been disappointed with a frame purchase from Blick.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

White Simplon Frames Need Better Quality Control
The WHITE SIMPLON frames need better quality control from Dick Blick before being shipped to customer-They arrive dirty- or small gouges in the pine wood- and most always have to be repainted by the customer

I framed a 5 x 7 enameled copper sheet with this product, then gave it as a gift. The recipient was very pleased with the artwork and commented on how well the frame worked and set off the artwork.

I was blown away by the care with which this frame was packaged, and by the quality of the frame. It's utterly gorgeous. It fit my 16x20 canvas perfectly--it's true to size. Compared to taking my art even to the least expensive framer in my area, buying a frame from Blick and framing it myself is less than half the cost. It's even less expensive than buying an plain, unfinished frame locally, finishing it, and framing the art myself. This is a super deal and really enhances my artwork. I love it!

This frame was like something would see in an art museum and made the artwork look more beautiful!
If you would like a brown frame, order Sagebrush. What you see in the Sagebrush image -- a brown wash -- is not what you'll get.

These frames are light weight, but substantial. They are fairly inexpensive, come in many standard sizes and several basic colors.
Plein air Frames
I give my paintings to loved ones for Christmas and these frames are just perfect for my plain air paintings.
