Blick proudly presents an innovative new idea in relief printmaking!
Blick Readycut is an exclusive product developed to take the guesswork out of relief printing. Created by fusing a thin layer of a traditional gray carving block to a thicker white block, Blick Readycut allows artists to simply carve away the gray layer to reveal the white — and instantly see how their image will look printed.
Trace an image on the block — or carve directly for spontaneous creativity. Blick Readycut eliminates repetitive inking, proofing, and cleaning because adjustments and additions are easy to see.
Blick Readycut has an infinite shelf life and is soft enough for all levels of student to work with.
Available in a variety of sizes, Blick Readycut plates measure 5 mm thick.

Perfect for block printing
By Pretty In Ink Press

Comments about Blick Readycut:
I love this product! I plan to buy more! The two-tones really helps you see what your print will look like before inking it. The block is very stable with no crumbling. I craved with Pfeil and Speedball tools.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love cutting Readycut blocks! They are easy to carve and hold detail nicely in printing. Really, they cut like butter!

Gonna grab more of these!
These pieces are a happy medium between the hard lino and the soft "eraser like" material that I use. It was a nice, easy cutting material and I will stock up on more of these.
I would buy this product again and again
Buy products over again.Great product recommended to other friends and prospective customers
Not as good as other soft cuts...
from Pinehurst, NC
I ordered these small pieces - like 4x5 - for a block print card making class. I found they were perhaps "too soft". When trying to carve anything intricate the surface would move - like it wasn't stiff enough to carve into.I don't intend to order them again.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We're sorry that these blocks were softer than you expected. The Stuff of Dreams!
from Madison, WI
I am head over heels in love with these blocks. I mean, HEAD OVER HEELS. They're incredible! I've been using linoleum blocks for a while now for my printing needs, and a friend recently recommended I try out Blick's in-house rubber plates, saying they were a quicker, easier material to work with; it's the truth. They cut like a dream, it's so easy to get a clean, smooth line in one pass, and the time it takes to create a relief plate has been cut in half. I've also found that my ink tends to stick to these blocks smoother than the linoleum blocks, and creates a crisper, more defined print. I am DEFINITELY going to be using these going forward... I am a true believer!
Definitely buying again

Not sure why this product is getting any bad reviews. This is great for beginning print makers who need help visualizing what is going to be part of the print and what is the negative space. The two different colors really aid in that. It cuts smoothly and you don't need as much pressure versus cutting linoleum. Sometimes when making fine details it can come out slightly jagged - but it's also how you handle your tool. Overall, this is great. I would definitely buy again.
Tricky to carve
I purchased this for my students to use and find it difficult to cut cleanly. The carving tend to not break away easily and stretch as they are pulled off. The darker gray surface is a bit thicker than ideal and one of the plates arrived with an impression in it that showed up inn the print.
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that these blocks haven't been easier for your students to cut. Our Product Specialists are happy to work with you to find a suitable alternative. Just given them a call at 1-800-933-2542 (8am-5:30pm CST M-F) or email them at email@example.com. They're happy to help!
Soft as butter, but loves to stretch in the print machine
By Confused Printer
from Conway, AR
I used this product to produce a lino cut for my printmaking class. Compared to some other brand I won't mention, you can carve through this linoleum like butter. The only issue is that its soft nature means it wants to stretch out designs more compared to the harder linos.
Easy for beginner
By Mary the fiber artist

Even as a beginner, it was easy to carve a design to transfer using paint sticks and fabric. The gray and white layers really helped to achieve an even depth. Designs would have to be reversed for stamping or printing.I only wish it had come with some directions or suggestions for uses.
