Welcome to dickblick
Belgian linen is a superb substrate for artists concerned about the longevity of their artwork. Woven from yarn made of strong, flexible flax fibers, Belgian linen is also the favorite of many artists because of its unique look and feel.
Blick Raw Linen Canvas Rolls are available in a variety of textures and weights.
Coarse Double Weave, 12 oz
The tight weave of this linen is perfect for those who prefer a textured linen look. Its strong, durable weave also makes it ideal for very large paintings, murals, heavy impasto works, and paintings in the Impressionist style.
Coarse, 12 oz
The medium-to-coarse texture, heavy thread, and relatively smooth and close weave of this linen give it a beautiful tooth — ideal for universal use and medium to large paintings.
Medium, 10 oz
The fine weave and smooth texture of this linen make it ideal for landscapes and larger works.
Smooth, 5 oz
This linen features an even weave texture that is suitable for smaller paintings and detailed work.

Love it Mounted to Panel
from Powell, WY
Comments about Blick Raw Belgian Linen Canvas Rolls:
I don't ever stretch my linen, I mount it to panel. I have been very happy with it. I mount the raw linen directly to sanded 1/8" or 1/4" thick masonite using Miracle Muck. I gesso twice after drying is complete, sand, and add one more final coat of gesso. I then rub in an acrylic ground with a wet rag using a mix of burnt umber and ultramarine blue; a nice neutral, yet slightly warm, ground. I couldn't be happier with the results. But, like I said, I never stretch the linen. It works wonderfully for how I use it. Couldn't be happier.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A total rip off
from New York, NY
This linen was not a good product. I've been stretching linen for 30 years and this linen is to be avoided. I tried it on both large and small stretchers. after rabbit skin glue was applied became tight as a drum. Good thing! however this linen when fully dried became an unusable bumpy mess. The thread weave in one direction lets go with tension. Very very poor. spent a lot of money and cannot use it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
