The frugal professional's best choice!
Blick Professional Acrylic Gesso offers maximum opacity, tooth, adhesion, and water-resistance, plus the highest concentration of titanium pigment for the brightest white ground. Apply it to raw canvas, wood, hardboard, paper, and other porous surfaces as a preparatory ground for oil or acrylic painting.
The 100% pure acrylic polymer formula has a thick, heavy-bodied viscosity that covers in one coat and holds brushstrokes if desired. You can tint it to any shade using acrylic colors. Non-toxic and lead-free, it dries to a flat, flexible film that will not yellow or crack.
Blick Professional Acrylic Gesso is ready to use — no preliminary sizing or sealing is required. Apply it directly to a clean surface with a brush or roller. For best results, dilute the first coat with water or acrylic medium for the best surface penetration. Sand between each application for a smoother ground, allowing gesso to dry thoroughly between coats. Hard, shiny surfaces should be sanded before priming. Clean up with soap and water.

Use to prime raw canvas and boards. Also use it in place of white with acrylics.

Thick gesso is really a lot better than cheap stuff
from Beavercreek, OR
I saw one of my favorite artists using a more expensive brand of premium gesso and realized how tired I was of gesso warping my watercolor paper if I put too much on. I chose this brand hoping it would be as thick as the other—and it is! Spread it with a strip of cardboard, and a thin-ish layer is dry in two hours. I'll never, never, never go back to the cheap stuff.

Gesso You Know

I use gesso to prime wood panels for my paintings. Blick gesso is an excellent value, and works just fine!
So much better than cheap gesso!
I've always bought cheap gesso, and had it thoroughly soak and sometimes warp my good quality 140lb paper. I finally got tired of that and wanted to try some high quality gesso. The price on this was great and I was just hoping that it would be good enough to be worth the extra money. It is as thick as it could be and still be easy to spread. I'm really happy I made the switch!
I would buy this product again

Good for the price

I really like this thick gesso, even if I mix with water and have several layers.

In the past, this gesso was average. Now, there is a thicker coverage, that glides on better than ever. I apply three layers working thin to thick and a little light sanding in between. I'm very pleased with this newer product and will tell others.

It is really a great product. When painting, quality matters, no matter what your skill level. Who knows, buying a good product now might keep your art for a long time!
