Blick Premium Grade Tempera is Blick's top-of-the-line tempera paint. It's thicker, with a consistent viscosity that stirs easily, then "bodies up" to its original viscosity. It flows more easily than Blick's Student Grade tempera, yet is still sag-free and drip-free when applied to paper. It contains a high concentration of high-quality pigments, has high color strength, is lightfast, and it won't flake, chip, or crack.
It washes up with soap and water and is freeze-thaw stable. Choose from a variety of brilliant, blendable colors, including six fluorescent shades. For basic color-mixing, we recommend that you use Turquoise, Magenta, and Yellow.
Lockable pump lids for gallons and half-gallons are sold separately.
This product is made in the USA.

Storage tip — All tempera paints contain organic compounds that make them safe to use, even if ingested, but this also means they eventually will spoil. To prevent spoilage, Blick recommends that you close the lid tightly after use and avoid returning unused liquid tempera to its original container after exposure to air. Always store tempera paints in their original containers, in a cool, dry place.

Not the best but works.

I have ordered all the primary and secondary colors in gallons. They arrive a bit lumpy and need to be shaken up repeatedly. One gallon was so lumpy it wouldn't pour out. If you don't mind the extra work to shake and pour into other containers it will do. I will be trying a different brand.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Love this paint for the excellent coverage and matte finish!

I teach high school and use it to teach color mixing and care of paints and brushes. I love the flat look compared to the sheen of acrylics. Really great coverage with that beautiful flat matte finish of tempera. We go onto use Acrylic but many of the students end up using the tempera for choice projects.

These are my go-to paints with kiddos

I am an art therapist and I love that I can use these paints and not worry about it staining carpet, tables or clothing. It also allows my clients to feel like they are using high quality materials (but they don't know I got them at a great price!) it's a win win for all of us. These paints have the thicken coverage and mix-ability that you want from an acrylic paint without the stress of mess. Thanks Blick!
Excellent for classroom use

I am a high school art teacher and I use this paint for basic projects in my Art 1 class. Acrylic paint can be very expensive although preferable so with beginners I use tempera because you can get a lot for a good price. I would not use tempera for more serious, experienced students as it does not layer very well and the colors are not as vibrant as acrylic. Either way, when I buy tempera or acrylic I buy the Blick brand because its reliable and fairly priced.

Color Wheel project painted with Blick tempera. We used red, yellow, and blue to mix all of the secondary and tertiary colors.

Love these temperas, the best ones I have found so far. (And I have tried several brands including European ones.) Creamy and saturated with color. Nicely thick and opaque. Can be diluted a bit. Really good value.Even had these shipped to Europe. It went fast and was well packaged.

I have been using Blick Tempera for many years in my elementary art classroom. I really like its consistency and color density. Would highly recommend this product.

The paint was received in overall good condition. Some of the bottles were popped open but nothing major. My only gripe is that the yellow has a consistency of water with large clumps at the bottom. We tried to shake the bottle vigorously for several minutes and no change. The other paints have good overall pigmentation. I must have just received a bad container of yellow. We also received some pumps that dispense the perfect amount of paint and some cups for our young painters to use which was a bonus.
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that the yellow tempera wasn't the correct consistency, and we're happy to take care of this for you. Please look for an email from one of our Customer Care Agents who will be following up to assist you.

Green paint purchased this year was more opaque than the bottle purchased in 2015 bottle. White and green paints are more opaque and less streaky than other less expensive brands. Green created a solid color with one coat. White mixed forhighlighting other colors and did not blend in so much that it disappeared
