really quite weak. had to stretch a canvas three times (each looser than the last) to keep the corners from buckling. canvas ended up being too loose to even bother with the gesso. never really had this problem before using these particular strips, and i can't really think of anything i did differently. I bought some similar weighted strips from a local art store as replacements and they held up just fine ...

if you have made up your mind to buy the Blick's strips, have a couple wooden triangles handy to nail on the back to reinforce the corners, or get the thicker strips.

I was surprised at the weight of these strips because I expected them to be flimsy but they were sturdy and easy to put together. This was my first time of trying the stretcher bars but I will definetly try them again. The price was right too !

The canvas stretcher bars and pliers worked beautifully. Bars were precision cut and easy to assemble. Enclosed wedges smoothed out my minor stretching imperfections.

Unable to stretch canvas because the outside edges are not straight. Severe warping caused corner damage rendering strip unusable.

I bought a lot this summer and framed and gessoed a lot of canvas for painting. When I pulled out a canvas today one of the stretcher strips had warped significantly after gessoing. It's really a hassle at this point.

I won't buy these again. They seemed like a bargain at the time but if you have to restretch a gessoed canvas, not so much.

Out of a recent order of 72 pieces, only one pair was warped enough I wouldn't have hand-picked it. That's way decent odds for budget product bought sight unseen.

I'm doing batik and going to use floating frames (which I got from Blick too). These stretcher strips look a better quality than my local store's option.

I bought Precision-Cut strips with the plan to build a 30x50 frame. Now I discover that there aren't any cross braces available for Precision-Cut; The local Blick store assured me that the heavy duty cross braces would fit. The Blick Prod Info Dept says that isn't true, and that I should visit a lumber yard and build my own cross braces. Why sell stretchers if you don't sell ALL the pieces necessary to build a quality and durable frame?
