I would like to add to my review that I was reviewing the 16x20 blank mats (17223-2008 & 17223-1128), not the pre-cut mats. I'm sure the pre-cut mats are fine bc they are professionally cut by the manufacturer. I just would not recommend the blanks without the proper equipment. I didn't realize when I ordered they were 8-ply and therefore twice as thick as normal 4-ply mats, and I didn't realize when I wrote the review it would be considered a review of the pre-cut mats. My Logan 450 mat cutter cannot handle them. I have absolutely no problem with 4-ply mats.

These mats are extremely thick. MUCH thicker than your average mat. So I ruined more mats trying to get through the layers than I normally would. Had to lower the blade on the mat cutter to 3x its previous depth, with mistakes along the way bc of it, and had to change blades after every 2 cuts. Also, I could not tell which side is the display side so made a wild guess - there is absolutely no texture to either side. Very disappointed at the waste and would not buy again. Unless you have a blade that you can lock into place as you cut or have extremely strong hands to keep the blade at a deep depth, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I realized that these mats were of average quality when I purchased, however, out of the first 30 I pulled from the packgage. 5 had spots and small black marks on them.

Too bad they don't offer them in i "bright white" as well as "white".

These are comparable to the much more expensive Bainbridge Boards.
Last time I exhibited my work I received several compliments and inquiries regarding the quality of the matting.

Beautiful mats at a great price. Sometimes they aren't packed carefully enough for shipping, allowing them to rattle around in the box and denting the corners. When packed properly with cardboard spacers, this isn't a problem.

As ever, good service.
The matts are a good solid black, sturdy and perfect for digital photos from the printer. The backing is also sturdy. I plan to put the pics in a folding bin for sale and these are just the ticket to make it look professional without too much investment on anyone's part. Only problem was a scratch that had been "repaired" with black marker or similar. I could have sent it back but was so $%^& busy that it will be okay for what I need.

This multi-pak combination of archival mat & mounting board offers convenience and excellent quality at a reasonable price. The 5"x 5" opening is particularly welcome, as it's difficult to find a pre-cut square opening mat at any price. The wide borders lend importance to even the smallest piece of art. Beautiful!

What more could you need! Archival, solid, the corners are perfect, no over cut.....8ply, pre-cut. Black all the way through. I was greatly impressed, and very inexpensive. Just don't know how it would stand up to sun light, but then again you wouldn't want your art work in the sun. I highly recommend it.
