Blick's No. 12 Cotton Canvas — traditionally known as "wagon-cover grade" — is a heavyweight (11 oz) canvas that's ideal for large-scale works. Strong and durable, this unprimed, unbleached, naturally off-white canvas can even be used for outdoor installations. Blick buys this customer favorite right from the mill that manufactures it.
Blick No. 12 Cotton Canvas is available in rolls, for those who prefer to stretch and prepare their own canvases or use it for murals. Buy it by the yard, in widths from 36" to 84" wide.
For a lighter, medium-weight canvas, try Fredrix Style 568 Medium Weight Cotton Canvas Rolls. For a heavier canvas, try Blick No. 10 Extra Extra Heavy Cotton Canvas Rolls.

Just what I expected
By Ken the scupltor
from St. George, UT
I stretched this canvas over a board to use as a ceramic wedging table. It worked just fine. The canvas seems sturdy enough to last me a while. It's exactly what I expected it to be.

I use the product for wall hangings, without stretchers. Most canvas I have ordered from other suppliers is woven imperfectly, so that it doesn't hang straight, but curves. Thus, it's not usable for what I do. This canvas is wonderful! Also, I asked for special care so that the canvas was rolled very carefully and packaged for shipping so that it would not get creased, etc. Blick's came through for me!
This was my first time using unprimed canvas and I love it. It was very affordable for the size and weight of the canvas. I don't like the creases only because I'm not classically trained and didn't know how to get rid of them, but I will do better next time.
The canvas comes rolled neatly on a tube and covered in brown paper.
I got a canvas blanket instead of a roll
from Tampa, FL
I bought this canvas from the roll section. But I received a blanket. I need rolls because I use a jig that holds the rolls so I can pull them over my frames. I needed a large piece for a project I was commissioned to do. When it arrived in blanket form I contacted customer service with pictures and they said there was no problem. The problem is I ordered a roll NOT a blanket. Even though the product says ROLL. My project was time sensitive so I had to use what I had. After about 3 hours of ironing the creases still wouldn't come out. I thought stretching it would help but it didn't. This is the reason I require rolls. Even though it was a large piece it was only 4' wide so there was no reason it couldn't come in roll form. Long story short I painted on it to see if it would help cover the creases and it didn't. I lost my commission for the piece and now I'm stuck with it. I don't like wasting money and this is the first problem that I've had with Blick. I just don't think the product should be labeled as a roll when it ships as a blanket.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for your review. Small lengths of unprimed canvas may be shipped folded, but if you need it to be rolled, we're happy to accommodate that request. Quality For Less

I like the use of this canvas because of its heavyness and the rougher texture. I buy it in bulk enough to last me for almost a year during what I call Painting season.
What you'd expect

Exactly what you would expect. Shipped fast and showed up in great condition.

After my first review, customer service contacted me, by email this time, and said that, yes, this canvas should have been shipped as a single piece rather than the one-yard segments that I received. They apologized for the error, replaced my order, followed up with another email, all to my satisfaction. Nevertheless, I think I would order roll canvas by phone in the future, just to make it clear that I want one continuous piece. The canvas itself is heavy duty and tightly woven -- exactly what I was looking for.
