Welcome to dickblick
The full belly of the male Kolinsky hair in these brushes allows greater control and fantastic fluid capacity.
The hair is hand-shaped with extreme care, glued into seamless nickel-plated brass ferrules, and triple crimped to the Italian hardwood handle, which is finished with five coats of lacquer.

Very nice brush
Very nice brush. Blick's customer service is fantastic. The first brush I received had shaggy hairs, but upon calling Blick, customer service replaced it immediately with a new one that is really nice.
My first sable brush.
from Shelbyville, IN
I recently bought my first sable brushes from Blick and so far I love them! They hold water much better than the synthetic brushes I have been using. Still evaluating, but it's looking like I'll be switching to sable.

An outstanding sable for the price!
By Mountain Mama
from Boone, NC
About two years ago when I first began watercolor, I bought two of these brushes. At the time, I didn't know much about brushes so I didn't realize what a treasure I was getting. Since then, I've tried a lot of sable and synthetic brushes, and these have performed so well, I've added two more to my collection and just came back here to purchase more!Once wet, the Blick Master brushes hold an excellent point. (Like most natural hair brushes, these splay when dry but quickly repoint once they are dipped in water a few times.) The bristles have an excellent snap but also a soft, painterly feel them. They hold a juicy amount of pigment and water and have a nice, slow release.I highly recommend these brushes to many friends and students. With a little care, they should last a lifetime and are an excellent brush for the price.

Been buying these for a couple of years now,I actually use these for my oil-on-canvas bird paintings, holds paint well.Quality product.
This brush holds watercolor paints well for application. Great brush for serious painters! Good size for most applications!

Best Quality for the price
from Titusville, Fl
I use these for watercolors. They are responsive and hold their shape very well. Don't spend more for no improvement in quality.

Really like these brushes
I'm fairly new to watercolor but decided to try some sable brushes after having used mixed brushes for a while. I ordered the Blick set of 5 sable brushes. In short, these are wonderful and I like the variety of sizes provided. The 14 and 10 rounds hold lots of paint and allow for doing large, smooth washes without going back to the palette as often. The size 12 flat does great long smooth lines. The size 1 and 4 are great for detail work. I doubt I'll go back to my other rounds anytime soon, hope these sables last a long time.

As a gift for me artist son, he needed good watercolor brushes to complete a commissioned art piece.
Is This Really Kolinsky Master Sable (#10)
from Fairfield, IA
Bought this Kolinsky Master Sable (#10) thinking is was going to perfume without all the hair brishling out when I used in for watercoloring. 1. Doesn't hold the paint very well and doesn't hold its point very well as well. I'm a long time user of Kolinsky paint brushes and have a number of them already, so when I received this poor performing brush, I was very surprised. I did order #6 Kolinsky Sable and it is really good. The #10 Kolinsky Master Salble I would not recommend to anyone.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
