Welcome to dickblick
The full belly of the male Kolinsky hair in these brushes allows greater control and fantastic fluid capacity.
The hair is hand-shaped with extreme care, glued into seamless nickel-plated brass ferrules, and triple crimped to the Italian hardwood handle, which is finished with five coats of lacquer.

Blick Master Kolinsky is a Superb Brush
By Donna Marie
Comments about Blick Master Kolinsky Sable Short Handle Bright:
NI love these brushes, I am partial to sable brushes because I don't like brush marks on my artwork unless I want it. These sable brushes preform as well as sable brushes that cost twice as much. Most acrylic painters prefer nylon because acrylic is so harsh on brushes but I prefer sable and don't mind replacing my brushes a little more often to get the smooth performance I demand from my brushes. These brushes fit the bill in cost and performance, I love them.ot just for watercolor these are great for acrylics to.

Beautifully made brush
I wanted to have a Kolinsky brush but did not want to pay a hundred dollar for a brush. Blick makes a great quality brush for affordable price. The brush holds water well and keeps points well. I will buy more.

Comments about Blick Master Kolinsky Sable Short Handle Round:
Reasonable price with prompt shipping. My brush holds its point well and holds and distributes my paints very well. Great purchase.

This is my first time using these brushes. As only a budding watercolor amateur painter, I realize that the quality of brushes is most important along with good paints. While I have not yet had much experience with these brushes, I do know how bad cheap brushes can be. I am looking forward to perfecting my painting with these good quality brushes.

This is a very nice brush for watercolor. It holds water well and is a little more firm than my Windsor Newton Series 7 brushes. I bought a size 6 and size 8 and will likely buy more.

Store brands can so often be disappointing can't they? I have been consistently impressed with Blick's own brand however, and this brush was just another example. Nice to be able to try things out at a more reasonable price and I'm growing to trust this store brand tremendously as I try things out. Good job!

Comments about Blick Master Kolinsky Sable Short Handle Flat:
i have been ordering from blick for about 6 months. everything has been awesome..the most amazing thing is the customer service. fedex lost or misplaced a shipment and blick did not bat an eye in getting my brushes right out to me. could not be happier!!!!
Did Not Hold its Shape
I tried using these brushes and after about 15 minutes I went back to using my old, worn out ones. They don't hold water very well and the bristles spread out so that you can't get a clean edge.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Some of the best you can buy for the money!
from Outer Banks
I've got a wide variety of watercolor brushes, some that even belonged to my grandmother (the kind of quality you just can't get any more), but these brushes by Blick are the ones that I reach for constantly.I have the #1, #2, & #4 round brushes. The #2 & #4 load easily and the pigment seems to glide from them. I am not as pleased with the #1. It works okay on hot pressed wc paper but won't grab enough pigment to make it useful on cold pressed or rough paper, but I find most tiny brushes are finicky like that.I'm not super careful with my brushes and these have maintained a solid point and lovely snap. I love the affordability of them, so I don't have to hesitate before I pack them to head out into the field. Going to grab a few more!
