Welcome to dickblick
The full belly of the male Kolinsky hair in these brushes allows greater control and fantastic fluid capacity.
The hair is hand-shaped with extreme care, glued into seamless nickel-plated brass ferrules, and triple crimped to the Italian hardwood handle, which is finished with five coats of lacquer.

Is This Really Kolinsky Master Sable (#10)
from Fairfield, IA
Comments about Blick Master Kolinsky Sable Short Handle Round:
Bought this Kolinsky Master Sable (#10) thinking is was going to perfume without all the hair brishling out when I used in for watercoloring. 1. Doesn't hold the paint very well and doesn't hold its point very well as well. I'm a long time user of Kolinsky paint brushes and have a number of them already, so when I received this poor performing brush, I was very surprised. I did order #6 Kolinsky Sable and it is really good. The #10 Kolinsky Master Salble I would not recommend to anyone.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
My all around "go to" brushes
I purchased the six brush set a couple of years ago and they still come to a perfect point. To be fair, I do baby them a bit. I rarely will mix dry paint from the palette with them, but choose a cheaper synthetic for the mixing and use these for painting. That said, I would only own one or two kolinsky brushes if not for these reasonably priced, excellent brushes. I've added four more to that set.
i will buy more of these brushes and I highly recommend them
For loose watercolor these brushes hold lots of water/pigment and maintain their point. Use with a very light touch for best results.
Brushes surpass expectations
After years of painting, I decided to upgrade some of my brushes. Ordered four to try out the Master Kolinsky Sable brushes. They did not disappoint! They hold an amazing amount of watercolor paint. Very pleased.
Good: Really wanted to try a kolinsky brush but didn't want to pay a lot, and the Blick brushes seemed the cheapest, plus I liked the idea of a lifetime guarantee in case it didn't actually pan out. The difference between natural fibers and synthetic fibers was noticeable immediately. The brush size I got (6) was perfect for the small paintings I do and it's my "main" brush now (compare to W&N Cotman brushes, which I do still have for details and flat washes).Bad: It's been a couple weeks now and I noticed that there's half a dozen hairs "splitting off" when the brush gets dry. Not noticeable at all when the brush is wet and I do take good care of it, always washing and even using brush cleaner, etc. I don't think it's that much of an issue yet but I would have expected to not see these this quickly. Overall I think it was still a good deal and if it falls apart I hope it's easy to replace through the lifetime guarantee thing.

These brushes are great. They have a firmer feel who ha works better when I am painting in gouache vs watercolor.

Blick Master Kolinsky is a Superb Brush
By Donna Marie
NI love these brushes, I am partial to sable brushes because I don't like brush marks on my artwork unless I want it. These sable brushes preform as well as sable brushes that cost twice as much. Most acrylic painters prefer nylon because acrylic is so harsh on brushes but I prefer sable and don't mind replacing my brushes a little more often to get the smooth performance I demand from my brushes. These brushes fit the bill in cost and performance, I love them.ot just for watercolor these are great for acrylics to.

Beautifully made brush
I wanted to have a Kolinsky brush but did not want to pay a hundred dollar for a brush. Blick makes a great quality brush for affordable price. The brush holds water well and keeps points well. I will buy more.
from Detroit, MI
Reasonable price with prompt shipping. My brush holds its point well and holds and distributes my paints very well. Great purchase.
