Known as the "Super Bar" for its strength, our heavy duty stretcher bar is made of kiln-dried, knot-free pine from Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified suppliers. The bar has been finger spliced. Finger splicing is a method of bonding pieces of lumber together to form a very long, straight bar, that actually makes it a stronger setting for your canvas.

Each bar's profile has a ½" rise to prevent sagging, and each bar is slightly rounded at the top edge, which is ideal for accommodating various canvas weights.

Blick heavy duty stretcher bars are only for use with Blick heavy duty cross-braces.

I sell giclee-on-canvas pet art prints. Blick bars are consistently straight and without 'twist' so my finished product is always perfectly flat. And they fit together so consistently I find it's a cinch to square up the assembly. I've tried bars from many other suppliers and have not found one -- not one -- with the consistent quality that Blick bars have. Say goodbye to frustration and waste.

I am 84, and have been using pre-stretched canvas for years, so I didn't know if I could still stretch a canvas, but had
no problem. I think it was because I used the heavy duty bars.

We use these heavy duty bars exclusively for our larger gallery wraps. We have a photography studio - and we print up to 40x60 prints on canvas. I need to use bars that are ready to go out of the box - we are not a frame shop and we don't cut bars. The Heavy Duty bars from Dick Blick are the perfect answer for us.

I wished I bought this product before I made my own and stretched canvas over it. Why? I had to take it all apart because it started to warp. The only thing bad about buying the stretcher bar was that I was never really sure what cross brace to pick that would go with the stretcher bar that I wanted. The drawings are not clear about how that works. In my case, I lucked out, but I would still worry if I had to order another stretcher.
