Comments about Blick Hake Brush Series 292:
I used these brushes for getting down pigment for larger pieces. They leave these beautiful brush strokes without an effort, so if you're going for the unfinished edge look you will definitely want to purchase these.

I have used this brush for twenty+ years for watercolor and it has held together admirably (see photo), despite daily use in both painting and teaching classes. I highly recommend it for superior workmanship compare to other hakes which have fallen apart or disintegrated over the years. It holds a lot of color, and since there is no "snap" to the hairs, it prevents me from "fiddling" a painting to death with it. I use it in both thick and thin paint applications and it hold up. An all brushes shed hairs---even the most expensive ones. Those hairs were the ones you didn't need anyway. It is important to thoroughly soak the brush for about five minutes prior to using it so the hairs become flexible.

Poor quality hake brush
By Watercolor artist

I'm very disappointed in the 1 1/2-inch Blick hake brush. The ends are uneven, so it's not good for solid watercolor washes. However, it does act like a fan brush in making grass texture, and it may be good for wood grain. Or, I may return it. I suggest anyone buy a better brand of this brush.

This brush is well made and works well with my watercolors. It does, however, shed. Not a lot, but at least a few hairs, up to five or six, each time I use it. Hairs aside, I want to get one a smaller size to round out my brush collection.I do like this brush and use it often.FYI: I watercolor everyday and am a semi-professional artist (I am a professional photographer)

I purchased the brush specifically for use in varnishing my oil paintings and the results were great. The finish didn't have brush streaks in it and the varnish was evenly distributed across the entire surface. Excellent product, well made.
A brush with lots of ability.

I purchased the Blick 2" Hake brush for watercolor applications. I was looking for a brush that I could use to wet the paper all over and to use for broad areas of color. i found that it holds water and color wonderfully and is appicable for wide areas and more detailed work as well. I would recommend this brush to anyone who is looking for a brush with the ability to do many jobs.
