Welcome to dickblick
It's softer and easier to carve but maintains all of the qualities of traditional "Battleship" linoleum. The fine textured surface produces sharp, clear prints and won't distort when subjected to high pressure in the printmaking press.
The lighter golden color makes pencil marks easily visible no need to paint the surface white. The inevitable hardening-with-age process has been significantly reduced with Golden-Cut Linoleum.
For your convenience we offer unmounted Golden Cut linoleum in packages of pre-cut pieces in popular sizes. Enjoy extra savings on the same Golden-Cut linoleum as in rolls. Cut it yourself using a sharp knife, utility cutter, or paper trimmer.

Buy this by the Roll
By The Munson Printer
from Croton on Hudson
Comments about Blick Golden-Cut Linoleum:
I recommend buying the rolls since the it seems the rolls are fresher and softer. It is very easy to cut with a box cutter and it is great to be able to fit your work into special size requirements and experiment with sizes of work. Golden have a good strong consistence that allows for both thin and wide lines. The spaces between the lines hold up well and as I am getting to know it better I have better results with smaller pieces staying in place and not breaking apart.prints well in the etching press.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

3 pieces, all with flaws of some sort.
I ordered 3 pieces of 18"x24". The 1st wasn't even vaguely square and I lost about a centimetre on 3 sides by squaring it. The other two pieces have some sort adhesive down the centre in a 4" strip.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have used the golden cut linoleum for several years and find it maintains the integrity of the cut nicely for many prints.

The only linoleum I will use.
from Gloucester Ma.
I am an artist printmaker who works primarily with linoleum relief printmaking. Blick's Golden Cut Linoleum is soft enough to carve yet will hold up to many printings under the weight of an etching press...important for my work which is mostly reductive, My plates get inked up, go through the press, get washed and laid out to dry, carved into again. All this process dozens of times. This linoleum holds up to it brilliantly. I like to sand the plates lightly before transferring my image onto them. Golden Cut Linoleum also is reasonably priced...I love that Blick sells big sheets of it.

Better than expected
from Murray, KY
Much easier to cut than old fashioned linoleum I've used and it holds the edge nicely for lots of prints on the intaglio press. Makes my projects more fun to do and involves much less work in the long-run. Would recommend this for school or personal use any time.
Don't buy this product!
from Manvel, TX
I bought this linoleum for my students because I could actually afford one for every student. Unfortunately, I will not be able to use any of it. The linoleum is as hard as plastic. I have new tools and am unable to cut into it. I can't believe they are getting away with even selling this stuff. I can't afford to order more. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!
Merchant response: Thank you for taking time out to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that this linoleum did not work as expected. Some linoleum materials may harden over time, you might be able to soften the surface with a small amount of heat such as that from a blow dryer, or household iron. Please do not hesitate to give our Customer Care team a call anytime that you receive a product that does not meet your expectations. You can reach us at 1.800.723.2787.

Luscious golden linoleum!
By Ruby Montana

Love the smooth sensuous consistency....great carving....and I do a lot of carving....smooth, steady, responsive texture....and I much prefer the warm gold color to the the cold gray. I highly endorse using it.
A good middle ground
from Asheville, NC
I wanted to try the Golden Cut because it seemed a good segue between the soft Speedy-Carve and the traditional hard Battleship Grey lino. it's turned out to be a good surface for medium fine lines. I also bought some wood carving tools and used these instead of my changeable blade lino cutters. The sharpness of the new carving tools makes the Golden Cut a good option for bold designs. It is fairly easy to carve.
