I ordered 12 of the 12x16 inch frames. Out of the 12, 11 were poorly constructed. The sections of the frames were not put together flush. Corners are obviously unsquare and even standing several feet back the silver of the metal is quite glaring against the black. These are completely unusable for the show I'm having this summer, as the lack of quality will be an obvious distraction and look highly unprofessional.

I also had to order separate glass for them, as plexiglass has a shoddy, cheap appearance.

Had the frames been properly constructed, I would have gladly switched the plexiglass for glass and they would have been perfect. The exact look I'd been searching for.

I used this frame at the 30" x 40" size. Unfortunately, at that size and weight, the metal frame is liable to flex and twist with the hanging equipment provided. This in turn, causes the the plexi to pop out.
For this frame to be adequate for its purposes:
1. There should be some sort of bracing available that attaches into the back grove of the metal frame, holding opposite sides more securely in place.
2. An attachment that similarly could fit into the back groove, that could accommodate D-rings. Such an option would allow a lot of weight to be taken off the top length of frame.

Maybe there are options at the hardware store off fixing this. But why do you want to buy something that inherently needs to be fixed.

The frame was fine, except that it did not include the materials to hang it with wire; in only included the top serrated hanger, which I did not like. Metal frames formerly included the two sliding eyes that are used for hanging with wire.

I would love to stick something inside this frame, but I've been going at it with a screwdriver for ages and I cannot get ANY of the screws to loosen even the slightest bit! I'm not *that* weak. I've been trying so hard that all eight of them are chipped, yet not the slightest bit of movement. Sure, the frame looks nice, but it's useless if I can't get anything into it.

Metal sides do not line up well, plastic was cracked in the edges, to big of a hassle to send back and I was able to fix the metal sides by filing them myself. I would not buy this product again.

First, kudos to Blick for excellent service -- people were very helpful on the phone in answering my questions, helping me choose the right frame, and getting my order delivered in near record time.
It never rains but it pours -- suddenly I was asked to do two photo shows opening on the same day and I needed over twenty decent frames FAST without busting a budget. The Blick Gallery frame fit the bill. I used silver and black -- both are good looking, add a little character over flatter frames. Easy to assemble (detach one side, remove acrylic sheet and heavy backing sheet, remove protective film from acrylic, put photo between acrylic and backing, slip everything into the frame, re-attach the side). The frame comes with a claw hanger; when I asked about eyelets for wire hanging, Blick's offered to send me some at no charge. They slip easily into the channel on the back of the frame.
Overall, a very good choice for photo shows and such. Two cautions: Acrylic scratches fairly easily, so protect it when transporting. Frame edges can be a little sharp, so be careful.

It took me a few minutes to figure out that I had to unscrew the bottom screws to insert work. Only after screwing three back together did I realize that the 'marks' on some of the acrylic 'glass' was not damage but a peel off film. I unframed all three removed the film from the inside and outside of the acrylic and presto - beautiful frames. I had a series of 10 for a show, the finished effect was very nice.

These little metal frames are great, they really make an attractive display for a print and look very professional. I would like to echo the sentiments about the fact that there aren't any instructions...there is no immediately obvious way to insert the artwork. After a couple seconds of feeling like a stupid chimpanzee doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results, I logged on because I remembered reading the reviews. Thank goodness for reviews! Take a screwdriver to it, slide off a side, and you are good to go. Simple as that once you know how, you will have your artwork mounted in seconds. I knocked off a star because of poor packaging, some have little hairline scratches and such, one is completely gouged. For the price it isn't worth shipping back, it's just annoying because the product is good but wasn't handled properly for quality control. But for the price, I don't think this can be beat.

There are no instructions provided, but after studying the frame, determined that the frame has to somehow separate in order to get the painting to fit. I discovered that you just have to loosen (don't have to remove) the small screws that hold the metal corner brackets in place on the back side of the frame. My painting is 12x16, so I laid the frame on a table (front side down) so the long side is horizontal. First I removed the metal spring bands that hold the black back panel in place along the back edges of the panel and the inner lip of the frame and set these aside. I then loosened the screws of the right and left corner brackets of the frame. This allowed me to pull the top frame piece away from the rest of the frame. For my application, I did not want to use the clear plastic "glass" to cover my painting, so I removed it and the black back panel together from the frame by sliding them out thru the opening created since the top part of the frame was removed. I slid the painting (also helf face down) into the frame. Once the painting was inside the frame and postioned the way I wanted, I slid the plastic "glass" and the black panel I removed earlier into the frame so both of these were now laying on the back of the painting. I did this to proved a storage place for the plastic "glass" should I sometime later want to use it, and to provide support. I then replaced the top part of the frame back on making sure the corner retaining brackets slid back into the rails of the frame. Once everything was aligned correctly, I tightened the screws. Then I took the metal spring clip bands and repositioned them to retain the back securely. Using a screwdriver, I carefully popped off the sawtooth hanger on the one side of the frame as it was not positioned so the picutre would hang horizontally. So, once the hanger is unclipped, you can position it as needed so the picture will hang correctly - for me this would along to top center.
