Welcome to dickblick
Designed with functional simplicity and elegance, the Blick Focus frame features clean lines and brushed finishes that mirror current trends in architecture and design. These value-priced polystyrene frames complement any décor and look great with photographs, etchings, sketches, prints, diplomas, and more.
A lower-cost alternative to wood frames, Blick's revolutionary new polystyrene frames are lightweight, durable, and available in a variety of profiles and styles that complement your artwork without overpowering it. Made of extruded polystyrene that contains 70-80% recycled material, every frame is as eco-friendly as it is beautiful and functional. Every Focus frame includes a mat, a backing board, and an acrylic face.
Blick polystyrene frames consist of an extruded polymer core onto which a hot foil finish is applied. Sophisticated manufacturing processes give the frame moldings several advantages over similar wood moldings, including a lower price and higher quality. Comprised of three elements — the Core, the Skin, and the Finish — these frames offer superb consistency of quality and style, all at a value price.
The Core — The Core is made from extruded foamed polymer that is derived from approximately 70–80% recycled material and 20–30% virgin material. The recycled element is derived primarily from two sources, the electronics industry (using computer casings and other products) and the food packaging industry. Special additives offer a balance of elasticity and rigidity that allows for easy joining, yet gives strength to the frame. All excess polymer material is recycled back into the production process.
The Skin — Only virgin polymer granules are used to create a very smooth, hard outer surface onto which hot stamping foil is applied.
The Finish — Hot stamping foils are applied to the smooth, hard outer skin. Sometimes several different foils are used on a single molding, or grain and textured patterns are embossed into the surface by gently heating the skin.
Color Matching — We do our best to match the color of frames, both on our website photography and in our catalogs, but differences in technology may affect the appearance of the photo on your screen. You are entitled to return, for refund or credit, any frame that does not meet your expectations.
Frame Depth — The depth of a frame refers to the depth of the frame's rabbet (the cut-out area behind the frame's molding that holds your artwork in place). To find a frame that will accommodate your artwork, measure the depth of the artwork, including any matting or mounting materials, and order a frame with a depth that is, at a minimum, the same as that measured depth.
Frame Dimensions — Frames are sized by the opening, not by the outside of the molding. To determine the size of frame to order, measure the outside of your artwork, including mat, and order that size frame. The frame will overlap your artwork ¼" all the way around, so your artwork will fit nicely behind the frame's molding.

Comments about Blick Focus Frame:
I really don't like to give poor reviews, but this frame kit earned one. I use these frames for my photo enlargements for show and sale. The "glass" is actually a very thin plastic material that you can see the difference from real glass or thicker materials quite easily, as you can see a ripple effect. The matt material is an off-white with a line texture to it that reminded me of old fashioned resume-type standard stationery. The backing material has gator-type hangers attached, which are not accepted in galleries. Also, the backing material attaches to the frame itself with some rather hard to use "points" that really made me struggle to get the thing back together, they are flimsy and bend, etc. After fighting the entire kit, I was exhausted. I do not recommend. There is a much better and less expensive alternative I use, and order those from Blick.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Good but a few complaints...
from Stacy, MN
I like the aesthetics of these frames. Low-key but still a few nice touches for looks. They're also pretty sturdy and don't cost an arm and a leg.As for complaints, these took a little convincing to get my pictures in and out of the frames. Also, the frame material left little black specks on some of the mats. Cleaning this out was less fun due to the tight fit of the insides.Overall, they're good and I'm happy with them, but there is room for improvement.

I needed a frame to save a signed photograph, the backing of which was deteriorating. The frame was ideal for my purpose. I had to trim the backing of the original, but the result is lovely. Thank you.
I will order this frame again.
What a nice surprise
from Haymarket, Virginia
I made 5 machine embroidery wall hanging items and wanted to frame them myself. The total for all the frames with matting was less than I paid previously to have framed by a large retailer for just one. And the problem is that the large retailer didnt hang my item straight, so I wanted to take a chance at it myself. I was very pleased with the results, and now after doing five, I feel like a pro! The frames look very nice on the wall and are nice and light weight. I really don't have anything negative to say about these frames. I will definitely buy them again.
Very nice frames
from Minot, ND
These frames are really nice. They are light and look very clean. I just didn't realize that they come with plexiglass, not glass. This is a matter of preference, but I usually prefer glass since plexi is easy to scratch and not so easy to clean. Other than that We are happy with this product.

Not as expected

I don't feel the description of this frame was clear enough. I was expecting to be able to frame a painting and was disappointed that it was purely a photo frame.

Very good shape and clean finishing. My first order was 2, now I'm ordering 10. it's the best for B&W pictures or drawings. Nothing bad about it at all.
