Welcome to dickblick
Our adhesive-backed, flexible printing material cuts easily enough for the lower grades, yet is capable of producing clean, crisp prints in the fine detail desired by older students and adults. Flexi-Cut is excellent for greeting card printing, and it takes water-based printing inks. Use linoleum cutters for pen-like control and safety.
Flexi-Cut is 1/16" thick and may also be cut in shapes with scissors, then mounted.
For a mounting surface, try cardboard, wood, or our Formica blocks.

Very disappointed that it is discontinued

Comments about Blick Flexi-Cut Printing Plates:
I have the blocks 9x6 that match and have used flexi plates for many years. I liked the storage of the flexi sheets and with 150 students it made the prep and economics of linoleum printing with the limo zips a well liked project. I found the carving very easy for the fourth graders. The prints were always sharp and the runs seemed go well beyond the expected 10 prints per plate. I am now forced to pay three times the amount to keep the printing unit. That hurts the ability to maintain the lesson and shrink overall budget acquisitions.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not for Serious Carvers
By Long time, satisfied Dick Blick customer
from Folsom, California
If you intend to keep and re-use your carvings this is not the material for you. Dick Blick offers many other blocks that are better suited for this.It might be useful for tool testing, test printing, practice pieces, experiments and such but it will not last long enough for most artists/carvers use.For shadow stamps, basic shapes, and adding quick "color spots" it might prove handy but if long, usable life is important look to other materials. This will dry out, crack and be unusable in a short time. It's suggested shelf life is only a year. Even with careful storage I wouldn't count on it lasting that long.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Flexi-cut plates for relief printing
By Boreal artist
from Ontario, Canada
I tried out this product to determine if it might be applicable for student use in the classroom. It is not a thick material like Blick EZ cut printing blocks so one should expect not be to be doing deep cutting. The peel and stick backing makes it nice for mounting onto a variety of firmer surfaces. I like the fact the product can also be easily cut with a utlilty knife or scissors to any desired size. The product does require a little bit of patience and works best if one uses a sharp cutting blade. I also like the fact it accepts waterbased inks but I have also used Akua and other vegetable oil inks (soap and water cleanup) and it accepts these with no problems. I would not recommend using traditional oil based relief printing inks as the solvents used for cleanup do not appear to behave well with the material.
