I'd been looking for frames with a deeper profile such as these for quite some time. So when I stumbled onto these, I ordered a couple of them right away. Boy, was I disappointed when I finally had time to open up the packaging to hang my collectible posters!

While they LOOK nice, they couldn't possibly have gone any cheaper with the materials they used to make these "frames"...and I use that term VERY loosely. Yes...I should have definitely read the reviews! But I didn't think Dick Blick would carry items of such poor quality.

As mentioned in some other reviews, the wood is too light to be real wood. And the piece of plexi-"glass" (again, I use that term very loosely) might as well have been a piece of acetate. I have NEVER seen such cheaply made frames in my life! On top of the fact that one of the frames had a huge chunk of wood missing right along the window of the frame.

I have been a creative artist in the advertising industry for 24 years now. I have worked at most agencies in Los Angeles, so I have seen my fair share of frames in my career. This one has got to be, by far, the poorest quality frame I have ever come across. Sadly, it would be too much of a hassle to try and return them. I might take the advise of one of the other reviewers and have a piece of real glass cut to size.

I ordered 6 of these without reading the reviews. Wish I had. My initial shock was the weight of the box when they arrived. They cannot be solid hardwood - as the description says. And the plexi glass is not what I call plexi glass. It's an ultra thin sheet of plastic that bends when you touch it. I have yet to find what happens when I try to use one. The description also says safe for shows. With the weight of them they will blow away in the wind.

I love the look of this frame, and the way it fits with my photographs. I printed 13x19 for my senior show, and used the 24x30 frames and cut my own mats. A word for those who want to use the larger frames... they are way more fragile. Not even 2 seconds on the wall, one of my frames fell and cracked. I am glad I had an extra one. Which is another thing. I bought 6 of the same frames, and only 4 were usable. The other 2 plexies were completely scratched. There was only a plastic peel on one of the sides, when it's supposed to be on both. Must of been a manufactuer issue, but it almost cost me my senior show! I do love Blick and will still buy from them. But I know to be a hell of a lot more cautious about everything.

To cap off: The wood frames are so soft, and can break very easily, especially the larger you go. And the plexies can come pretty scratched. I give these frames 3 stars for that reason.

I have had numerous problems with these frames. The acrylic cracks when removing the film. The frames are not large enough to hold a canvas of the same size. They separate at the coners. Blicks Gallery Wood frames were much much better! Please bring them back!

I bought a black 18X24 frame to mount one of my fine-art photos as a wedding gift. The paint is thin and not even solid black. In addition, specks of black paint would flake off on to the white matte which I could not ged rid of. I'm returning it to the store.

It was a perfect fit for the project that I purchased it for. It was very easy to mount and place my completed art project in. It has a very smooth clear natural finish which goes well on the wall in my home. It is light weight so that it isn't to heavy for wall mounting.

The frame itself looks so nice, i really like the style and the depth but i don't like the acrylic face it's so flexible and static, all little things just stuck to it... and i didn't like that it's not clear(but it was my mistake, i just realize that i had to pill off the protective layer lol)Anyways i ordered peace of glass (16/20) and paid just 6 dollars, so it's still good value even if u want to put glass instead of acrylic face. i'll def order more and will suggest it to my friends:))

I have bought two of these frames, one an 18x24" and the other larger (size?). The price is right, but as in all things, you get what you pay for. I just matted something for the 18x24 frame, when I went to peel off the protective layer on the plastic window. The plastic is so thin that it actually cracked/tore as I peeled off the protective layer. It tore right where my thumb and forefinger were grasping it. So be careful to spread out the pressure when doing this.

Another thing is that the space between the window and the wood backing is quite small - be selective about matt board thickness.
