Welcome to dickblick
Sable is a top painter's choice in virtually all media, due to its strength, spring, and ability to retain its shape. Though priced for a student budget, our Economy Sable brush holds a point or edge well.
Each brush has a long natural wooden handle with green gloss finish, and a seamless, polished aluminum ferrule.

Kolinsky Sable Brush Shortage
Due to regulatory issues regarding the importation of Kolinsky hair, we are temporarily out of stock on many of our more popular brush styles. Be assured that we are working with our vendors and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remedy this situation as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience.

Comments about Blick Economy Sable Filbert:
I teach a paint and sip class. The brushes really held up during the class and kept an edge. Thank you for making individual brushes available at such a reasonable price

Great and economical
By Claudia Diane

I paint on rough surfaces and go through a lot of brushes. The price of these are economical so I can buy more. They are also great for my other paintings in water color and acrylics.

They aren't the best brushes out there but will get the job done. I would only recommend these brushes for a starting artist or to be used as throw away brushes on a project.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Of course these are no Kolinsky sables......but I prefer some of these over my more spendy ones. And I don't have to worry 2 much about ruining one. And if the ferule does come off...it literally takes about 5 seconds to superglue one back on. And I am a professional artist. These brushes were used in many of these paintings of mine: www.swope-tsoumis.com

Aggravating waste of $ 4 larger sizes
from Chicago, IL
The smaller sizes work well and I haven't had issues with them but the sizes 6 and above are wretched and you WILL ruin your hard work if you use them. It was infuriating to use these brushes and have the bristles spread every which way. You can't control the strokes or the area the bristles brush over. AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH! I've tossed into the trash a good half dozen or so of these that were size six and greater. The smaller sizes I can still use but for how long, I don't know.
Very good for such a low cost
I am an artist and use these brushes for my daily painting. I use Escoda and a few other higher end brands on commissioned portraiture. I think these are a great value. I haven't had the problem of the brush coming apart or strays or single strands flaring out. I have used these for about a year and they have held up quite well. I can't believe I paid so little for them.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
from philadelphia PA
The actual brush portion of the brush is okay (cheap, but usable). The brush portion isn't securely attached to the handle. This was my first buy of these econo brushes and other than use for cbildren - useless. Two of the brush heads came off of the handle when just wiping the excess paint off the brush. Look Ma - no brush! If I were FORCED TO USE THESE BRUSHES - I would recommend taking the head off and putting some glue into the ferrule to try and keep it on and steady.I would say painting with this brush is like eating with a fork with one tine. A lesson in frustration.
