Welcome to dickblick
These ready-made frames are crafted from solid pine, then hand finished with fine-quality stains and softly antiqued to give the look of an expensive, custom-made frame. Each frame has a wood liner.
These frames have a rabbet that is approximately 3/8" deep (about 10 mm), sufficient for a single-matted or double-matted work on paper, but not deep enough for stretched canvas.
The gold and silver leaf frames are hand-finished with the "Old World" technique of showing lines between each individual leaf which reveals a thin separation line.
Note — Hanging hardware not included.
Frame Depth — The depth of a frame refers to the depth of the frame's rabbet (the cut-out area behind the frame's molding that holds your artwork in place). To find a frame that will accommodate your artwork, measure the depth of the artwork, including any matting or mounting materials, and order a frame with a depth that is, at a minimum, the same as that measured depth.
Frame Dimensions — Frames are sized by the opening, not by the outside of the molding. To determine the size of frame to order, measure the outside of your artwork, including mat, and order that size frame. The frame will overlap your artwork ¼" all the way around, so your artwork will fit nicely behind the frame's molding.
Open Back Frames — These frames are meant to be hung on the wall and are sold as just the frame face. They are not shipped with backing material, glazing material, or hanging hardware. The open back frames are commonly used for traditional profile stretched canvases.

Comments about Blick Classique Wood Frames:
I used these frames for my wildlife art. The finish and texture perfectly compliments my animals and birds, very organic and natural looking. I have a big show coming up and needed a way to keep my framing costs down. I was a little leery about ordering frames from photos, but the color and texture was exactly as shown. Couldn't be happier with the end result.

I purchased these assuming that they were 3/8 rabbet depth, as advertised. These actually measure out at 1/4 inch depth. Furthermore, the construction isn't very good; portions of the wood flaked off in my hand. It is soft wood, so I'd expect to take more care in handling the frames, but it shouldn't chip off like that. On the plus side, they are fairly competitively priced. As long as you don't intend to replace the artwork inside of them or move the pieces around, they should be sufficient. If you're living outside of the US, expect a long hassle of communicating back and forth about tariffs and shipping. It did arrive fairly quick, but every other website I've ever purchased anything on will handle all of this for you.

I've bought this frame before, and I love it!

I used the light gold, Classique frame for my traditional landscape painting. The light gold works well with my subdued colors -- a richer, brighter gold would overwhelm the painting. Also, I prefer NOT to have a linen liner -- some shows I've entered don't even allow artwork in frames with liners to be accepted. Overall, this is the best pre-made frame I've found!I normally work on 1/8" panels. As the frame is not very deep, a 3/4" canvas will hang out the back a little, which may be an issue for some artists, or maybe not.
Lots of style and size choices. Frames finished well, and nice and straight. Packaged well for shipping.

Very Goo Buy!!

I have been buying Blick's frames for many years. The ones I have always bought have been wooden frames made in Mexico. For the money, I really think they are a bargain. They are much better than I have found in stores that specialize in crafts, frames, and fine art materials without mentioning names. I paint in oils and when I frame my paintings in the Blick frames they enhance the painting many times over.

Made my painting stand out like no other frames that I purchased in the past, and the price was very reasonable. You have a customer for life. I would highly recommend your products to my friends and family.
Been ordering this style many times
By Marilynof Manchester
I paint landscapes and seascapes in oils, and have been ordering this style frame for a few years. I find that whatever my color scheme is the frame is very complimentary to the painting. I like to have all of my paintings in the same frame for show purposes as I feel it pulls the entire collection together. The reasonable price of these frames allows me to project a much more professional image. These frames are a great find for the money.
