Welcome to dickblick
Specially formulated for Dick Blick, we import this linoleum from Europe several times a year to provide the softest quality possible. It gives a finely detailed, sharp, clear print.
For best results, be sure your blades are sharp! Dull blades are dangerous and frustrating, especially to students. Because of the natural aging process, linoleum should be used within a year of its purchase to take advantage of its peak softness.
For your convenience, we offer our 1/8" (3 mm) thick linoleum by the square foot, in pre-cut pieces, by the roll and mounted on blocks.
Pre-Cut Pieces — For your convenience, we offer our unmounted linoleum in packages of pre-cut pieces in popular sizes.
Mounted Blocks — We've mounted our fine-quality, battleship gray linoleum on a 3/4" thick, pressed wood block for easier handling. Total thickness is 7/8".
Linoleum in Rolls — Enjoy extra savings on the same battleship gray linoleum in rolls. Cut it yourself using a sharp knife or heavy-duty paper trimmer. Linoleum rolls require truck shipment, and do not qualify for Dick Blick's free shipping offers.

Comments about Blick Battleship Gray Linoleum:
Got back to doing block printing and relief carving and this product works well. Easy to carve and can take some abuse, so I'm pleased.

A super way of making your lino cuts easier and more usable
Linoleum cuts easily and prints crisply
from Traverse City, Mi
The linoleum cuts easily, holds crisp edges and is easy to clean in preparation for further printers. The linoleum is relatively soft which means it isn't so old the oils have begun to oxidize.

Battleship linoleum has a wonderful finish that imparts great releaf caracher in your print. I've used this slab for multiple print jobs and it's held up wonderfully. I say this only because I've using some unusual methods that have required extremely high pressure. I was concerned about embossing the lino itself but it's holding up great. 10/10
Lino sheets are great
from Kihei, Maui
I bought a package of 3 sheets of linoleum for my linocuts. They are in perfect condition and new- not dried out or dinged up. I have been using these and am really pleased with the results.
Returned - Cheap Lineoleum
from Freeport, TX
I bought these because they seemed like a great deal. Returning them. They have chips on the edges, then linoleum is cheap & nearly impossible to carve smoothly. It looks worse than just carving linoleum tiles. I was very disappointed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Seems to me this product is near to perfect .

I have been using this brand of linoleum for my lino-cuts in school. This is my first year taking printmaking, and to be honest I was shocked at how much everything was going to cost, but after using the products, I am starting to understand why. I am glad that i purchased this brand of linoleum (although more expensive than some competing brands) because how easy it is to carve into. The line quality it can produce and tenderness to the linoleum makes it simple and effective. The only thing that bothers me about this linoleum is how hard it gets over time, and also how it seems to suck up the oils used to clean it.... it was extremely difficult clearing all the oil from the linoleum's porous surface...perhaps that is the nature of the medium, but It seems to be my class mates using different brands of linoleum have had better luck cleaning it.
Low cost but very suitable for linocuts

Some reviewers have complained that this linoleum is difficult to cut. It can be at times, but that problem is easily alleviated by warming the sheets. If you have a commercial hot plate, 200 degrees for a few minutes to get it amr makes cutting very very easy. Others have mentioned that it it is not cut accurately. That is true the 8x10 blocks in may package did not all come out in perfect 8x10 rectangles. they exceeded the dimensions on two side, forcing me to trim them, which is difficult to do accurately for multiple block prints. The price makes these two foibles more or a nuisance than a reason not to buy them

Love the multipacks of the grey linoleum, great value. Relatively easy to carve (if you keep your tools sharp!). Holds good detail, and prints nicely under more bottle jack press.
