Comments about Blick Artists' Watercolors:

These watercolors are as good as my other artist grade watercolors -- Lukas 1862, Yarka St. Petersburg Professional, Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith. I've used them to create a color chart and a watercolor painting in my Moleskine journal and they are just as strong, pigment-rich and smooth as any of the other good ones.

Artist grade watercolor at the price of student grade. I haven't tried the Cadmiums yet, but I am definitely going to. In answer to another review mentioning the colors are brighter, I see this as an advantage since it's much easier to mute a color with a complement than to make a lower intensity color brighter when I need a strong accent or element.

I hope they add some more colors though, I wanted to get Light Red and Permanent Rose but these aren't in the lineup.

I purchased the Artist set and in a side-by-side comparison to Daniel Smith paints of the same colors showed me that these paints were of equal quality. I would say maybe even a little brighter and more saturated. I love this product and will definitely buy more colors.

I have tried these paints using 5 of the colors, and find them overly bright (which works well in a painting with high color). I am most impressed with how afforable these are, so I am using them mostly to fill colors. They mix well, though seem a bit pasty in comparison to Daniel Smith or Winsor. If the prices stay as they are, I would highly recommend these for colors you do not already own.

I purchased this product, because I taught a class in watercolor to school-age children as part of a free summer art camp provided by the art league in our community. For this purpose, these watercolors were very nice. The only issues I had with them was that once I squeezed them into the individual pallettes, they took a very long time to dry and some of the colors were not true (mainly cadmium red medium, which was too red). The paints mix pretty well and the children were able to create some very fine paintings with them. They seem to lay on the watercolor paper very similarly to the Windsor-Newton paints that I prefer.
