pro paints make a big diff
from Bradford, VT
Comments about Blick Artists' Oil Color:
Just wrote a similar review for a Da Vinci Bright brush I bought with this paint. I only didn't say "Best in its Category" here because I haven't tried the total top-of-line paints yet, but I don't know if it gets any better than this. A Youtube vid inspired me to spend a little extra cash and get some pro (instead of student) grade paint, the guy observed that pro paints have something close to 50% more pigment in their mix, which actually would give you twice the color/stretch when mixing with other paints, hence I got a primary color, and wow it really goes bang. I think it handles at least a little better on the brush than student grade, but for sure it makes the paint go farther (and brighter). If you're a new struggler but can't stop painting, like me, get at least the three primaries in pro paints. You can of course mix these to get any other color you want and I think you'll see an immediate diff. Good luck.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

i love this brand!
from Atl, Georgia
this was my first time using oils and i must say i love it. it takes about 3 days for it to be mostly dry and its an overall great product for just starting out like myself. the only thing i would say that is unfortunate is that it is a bit pricey for something that is off brand in my opinion, but it is oil paints after all.

These are pretty great paints for the price. I wish they offered the larger tubes for other constant use colors like burnt sienna and burnt umber. WIll definitely purchase again.

A thin, oil substance exited the tube before I saw any paint pigment come out...enough where I had to mop up the excess with a paper towel. The pigment paint seems to be average in thickness and color tint. No, I am not satisfied with the paint.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. It is not uncommon for oil paints to have a small amount of excess oil on the top of the tube. This does not indicate a lack of pigment in the mixture and is not usually considered a defect. This oil is most often drained off by using a paper towel or other absorbent rag. We do offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee and stand behind our products. Disappointed in the Naples Yellow for what I need it for.
The paint itself is not bad but the color is disappointing to me. I really like Naples Yellow by Winsor Newton except for the fact it is always really dry. However, the Winsor Newton color is right on for what I use it for and even the dryness helps get some texture that's nice sometimes. This Naples Yellow is much lighter, both in color and consistency and just isn't what I want. To be fair, I tried another brand in this color recently also and the two are very similar and they just aren't what I wanted. Everything else about the brand and paint is fine so far.
Merchant response: Colors of the same name can vary quite a bit between brands. This can be true even when the same pigments are used, due to a variety of reasons including where the pigment was sourced and how it is prepared, among other factors. If you ever receive a product that is damaged, defective, or just not what you expected, give our Customer Care team a call at 1.800.723.2787 and we’ll be glad to assist you with an exchange, replacement or refund.

Use this product with traditional painting technic or works well mixing with different mediums to entertain different painting technics. Great pigment and rich buttery colors. Awesome product and would definitely buy again
