Every rich, vivid color is formulated using the finest genuine hand-ground pigments, combined with pure, first-press, non-yellowing safflower oil.* Thirty of the 60 colors in the line are made from a single pigment.

Qualities of these extremely responsive oil paints include a high pigment load, a dense, buttery feel, and a luminous satin finish. They’re an exceptional value for artists of all levels, particularly for single-pigment colors.

* Note — Cerulean Blue is formulated with poppy oil, and Ivory Black, Mars Black, and Sepia are formulated with linseed oil.

Ok in all fairness I was a bit hasty to review the item. I wrote the previous review on weak pigmentation, and on the second try I found it stronger, not Old Hollands but not terrible either. Seems as long as I have painted I should l know the first inch glob is not a great indicator of the rest of the tube due to settling, and separation. On the positive side it also shows Blick's integrity to post everyones reviews.....kudos to Blick, I will be back God Willing! Happy Painting!

Well I bought the Ultramrine Rose which looks on the color swatch as identical to Sennelier's same color....anyway I liked the pigment in the watercolor, and Blick's seemed the way to gi. Anyway saying it is weak is wrong it should be enemic is more of the use. I see it is made in France and have a good idea of who manufactures it, that explains it. I will use it to tint out the French Ultramarine. I am sure there are many colors int he Blick Artist's line, but I am thinking possibly the Gamblin or Artstore lines they had or have were probably better. I should have bought Grumbacher!

I can't say who makes these paints because I honestly do not know. But I have my theories.

These paints have a wonderful body. I cannot grade them "best in class" because of the limited palette, but they feel like top of the line artist oils - and they glide with the best of them. The pigment load is great and they work well.

These paints are creamy with full pigment loads. I've been told these paints are made by Sennelier and I believe it due their make up and the excellent quality. My only complaint is that they don't make more colors. The paint is easy to work with, doesn't yellow, doesn't clump or blend into mud with other colors or other brands. I've been using the same tubes for a couple years, the paint goes quite far and doesn't seem to separate excessively after sitting for long periods. I buy in quantity when Blick has a sale. I would recommend these paints to the intermediate artist through professional skill level. They are pro quality for an affordable price.
