Welcome to dickblick
Blick is proud to offer its line of professional, artist-grade oil colors.
Every rich, vivid color is formulated using the finest genuine hand-ground pigments, combined with pure, first-press, non-yellowing safflower oil.* Thirty of the 60 colors in the line are made from a single pigment.
Qualities of these extremely responsive oil paints include a high pigment load, a dense, buttery feel, and a luminous satin finish. They’re an exceptional value for artists of all levels, particularly for single-pigment colors.
* Note — Cerulean Blue is formulated with poppy oil, and Ivory Black, Mars Black, and Sepia are formulated with linseed oil.
A great introduction to Blick Artists' Oil Colors, this set includes one 1.35 oz (40 ml) tube each of Burnt Sienna, French Ultramarine Blue, Lemon Yellow, Quinacridone Magenta, Titanium White, Ultramarine Violet, Viridian, and Yellow Ochre.

Comments about Blick Artists' Oil Color:
I use oils in a makeshift watercolor manner for the appearance of pen and ink.

The down side here is that the tube broke on the end and I had to use duct tape to fix it. This happened the FIRST time I used it. The paint is good, but rather thin tube material.
Excellent oil paint!

Really Worth Trying
from Houston, TX
If you haven't had the experience of painting in oil where the oil is safflower oil, then you really owe it to yourself to try the Blick Artists' Oil Color line of paints. On either canvas, board, or gessoed masonite, these colors render a satin like finish that is unmatched by linseed oil based paints. With modern non-aromatic mediums, the negative side of safflower oil drying times can be greatly reduced. The colors are vibrant, bold, and literally jump off the support in greeting your eye. Plus Blick's price point for the line is very competitive. Highly Recommended.
trying Blick Oil Paints
always used Rembrant Oil Paints . trying Blick now. My husband ordered the 8 piece set and I am working with them now. Will compare with my other paintings that are with Rembrant.Oil like the color and fresh, not muddy color. I like to glaze, and do transparency.
Seize the Paint
I have not used Blick paint before. I'm usually Le Franc or Rembrandt - but Le Franc is limited and thought it time to seek a replacement so I'm giving Blick a try. My first reaction to the paint is highly favorable. It has a creamy consistency - covers well - and stays true to color. I use Liquin Impasto as a medium and the paints work well with it. So far, I'm very pleased with the choice and will order Blick again. Just FYI - I've been a Blick customer for over 10 years and am just now trying their oil paints. What was I waiting for???? (head scratch)
Will Buy Again
from Grand Rapids, MI
I normally use Winsor and Newton oil paints and for the price (especially as a poor college art student) I would definitely say the Blick oil colors are a great competitor and will most definitely purchase again! I actually prefer the Blick titanium white consistency to the Winsor and Newton. I believe Blick uses more linseed oil so if you are into that, it is definitely worth giving a shot! I haven't used brands such as Holbein (again, poor college student) so I don't have a say on that. But as a student who still wants good quality paints for a cheaper price, these are perfect!

Blick Naples Yellow oil paint review
This is not a true Naples Yellow. It's a nice yellow, bright and clear, but not Naples. I was disappointed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for your feedback. Nearly all Naples Yellow colors currently made are hues that use alternative pigments and avoid the lead-based named pigment. We're sorry if this is not what you were expecting, and we're happy to work with you to find an alternative that will be more to your liking. I don't know everything there is to know about paints, their qualities, and their value. But I know what I like and what works best for me. Even with the first use of these oil paints, I fell in love. They are beautiful and marvelous to work with. I anticipate I will be buying more Blick oil paints in the future.
from Bakersfield, CA
I mainly use Winsor Newton Artist Oil paints due to their consistancy, price and how long they last me. I had run out of white for a large product and was tight on funds so I went with the Blick Zinc White, large tube. It is extremely thick paint and has to have linseed oil added to make it more manageable if I can get enough out of the tube. It has lasted me some time and mixes with other colors well enough, I just get frustrated with how hard it is to squeeze out. Great Value though.
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. The Blick Artist's Oil Colors should have a soft, buttery consistency not all that different from that of Winsor & Newton. It sounds like the tube you received may not have been of the quality we expect from our paints, and we'd like to take care of that. We hope you'll give us a call at 1-800-723-2787 — our Customer Care Agents will be happy to assist you!
At Blick we pride ourselves on providing artist quality paints at the most competitive price. See why our Blick Artists' Acrylics, Artists' Oils and Artists' Watercolors are an excellent choice for any fine artist - even one on a budget!
