Good paper amazing price
By Robin M
from Granada Hills California
A friend from Watts Atelier recommended this bulk paper to me and it was one of the best recommends I have ever been given. Its good paper with a nice smooth texture and can sometimes show a nice testure pattern if charcoal is applied very smoothly. The paper has two disadvantages. It is more prone than Strathmore to being penetrated by a very sharp pencil which can cause a small tear at that location. Also its more sensitive to finger and hand oils. I use a Conte B pencil usually and it can stert to resist adding more charcoal. I might not use this paper if your favorite pencil is Wolf's Carbon because that pencil already has problems with resisting applying on certain surfaces. If you love finger or palm rubbing you might keep around some branded paper for long poses of two hours or more. This won't ever be a problem with quick sketch. Advantages are the price is a tenth of branded paper sold in pads. If you do life drawing sessions three times or more per week as I do you will go through a pad of paper in no time. You will save hundreds in paper. The box the paper comes in becomes a great place to store your finished drawings. Also the bulk paper has none of the problems associated with pads warping when kept in your car. The paper lays nice and flat on your board. Just throw another fresh twenty sheets on your board when you need it. The advantages of the box and price far outweigh the disadvantages for me.
Great for Quilters
from Hilton Head Island
I use this product for paper Piecing quilts. It is just thin/thick enough for a sewing machine needle to go through it without ripping. I have ordered this several times and divvy it up amongst my quilting friends.
I love this stuff!

I love using this paper for the purposes I need it for. It's easy to handle, makes quick work of cleanup, and has many uses. When I first ordered this (I order it a couple of times a year), it was packaged so poorly that I called to complain about the condition of the paper and its packaging. Now, Blick's staff is doing an outstanding job of packing it up so that it arrives in pristine condition!

I'm taking online Watt's Atelier classes and need copious amounts of smooth newsprint. Someone recommended this Blick product and it's perfect quality, texture (smooth), and price!
Great for making sketchbooks

Nice and thin for making sketchbooks. I can fill with many more pages than with other drawing papers. Also great for rough drafts of larger projects.

I cut these into 9" sections for my students. It's great for sketching and teaching o students to draw lightly with the pencil. (paper will rip if you press too hard)
A Cheap Paper for Multi-tasking
By Mark T
After watching dozens and dozens of videos on youtube of artists drawing portraits, live models, quick sketch, etc., I decided to buy some newsprint since it seemed to be the paper of choice for practicing one's drawing skills. So, I found this product and decided to try it.I can use this paper for almost anything: covering parts of my drawing while working, blocking areas in order to spray fixative, doodling to come up with another drawing idea, laying out a future long drawing, etc. Heck! You can even use it to wrap fragile objects and box them away.
Decent paper for the right kind of projects
from Baltimore, MD
I buy it for the quantity - good for non archival, temporary projects - not super heavy duty but holds acrylic paint pretty well.
I use the newsprint to cover drafting tables in my art studio it's easy to throw away the top piece and the next piece is ready to go. It's also great for doing sketches figure dry you won't find a better deal it's not the best it will fade quickly but the quick uses like what I use it's awesome .
