Nice solid work stool for studio
By Painter Blair
from Chautauqua NY
Couple of weeks now - very happy with this tractor seat stool. It's well built but not overly heavy. Note - the seat is shaped out of composite plastic and they did a nice job with it, comfortable to sit on. The casters work well on my cement floors. Overall good quality and useful stool for a fair price.

The chair is good all by itself. However, the weakest link are the rollers and their joints. After about 3 months of usage, the steel welding broke off crippling one of the legs. I eventually ended up removing all rollers - but now the chair is only half usable...it does not move anymore and I lost about 2 inches of height.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Tractor seat chair

Very comfortable - I initially thought not having a back on the chair would be an issue but it has not proven so. I like that I can zip around my studio space and feel secure in that it won't tip over - very stable although not as high as I would have liked.

I really wanted to love this stool and in all honesty it is comfortable to sit on. So what's wrong with it? Construction and stability. First let me say that I tip the scales at a whopping 139lbs--heavy by no standards. The "molded" plastic seat creaks and rocks beneath my weight. Keep in mind the only thing holding the seat to the base are a few screws tightened into the plastic. It does not give any sense of security that it won't just snap off. I bought this so I could sit at a drafting table and I find myself standing more often than not to avoid the constant wiggle of the seat. I exspected a much better product.
The search is over!

I bought this stool for caricature gigs. Although it is a little bulky(but not heavy) to lug around, I love the comfort and flexibility it offers. Having gone through a number of possibilities, I finally found something I am very pleased with. You might want to keep track of your allen wrench, since the seat may need some periodic tightening. Small price to pay for one fine stool.
Needs Set Screws
from Lancaster, Pa.
The seat attaches to the mast in the base by inserting the mast into a hole in the mounting plate. There is nothing to prevent the mast from going too far in this plate and disabling the mechanism for operating the chair except fit. Too much weight on the seat and it goes in too far. Three set screws will solve it. A good design would have prevented it.
