These high quality stretcher bars are more than just a piece of wood!

Their rounded back edge reduces surface friction and is designed to keep the canvas ½" from the stretcher bar. This feature helps insure that there will be no ghost impressions on the canvas.

Stretcher bars are made from kiln-dried, knot free, straight white pine. Each strip measures 1½" high × 1¼" deep.

Note — Price is per strip, not per pair. These stretchers are only for use with each other and Best Medium Duty Cross-Braces. They will not interlock with other brands.

I tend towards a love/hate relationship with these stretchers. They're all I use so I must like them but they are not without faults; I've had issues with bad cuts and warped bars--do note though that Dick Blick's service is always outstanding in rectifying this. All in all they are perfect for me, their size is right--substantial yet not gallery wrap 2 inch huge--and they're made here. Even with the issues I'll never venture anywhere else as long as Richeson (Best) keeps making a solid product and Blick continues to provide such amazing service.

These stretchers are really good and strong.Perfect for medium size canvases.
I ordered a few and all of them came in perfect shape except one which is not broken but needs to be glued (maybe just an oversight by the manufacturer?) so I'm astonished Blick didn't check it before they sent it.

When I opened these stretcher bars I was immediately impressed with the quality and design. (and I am very fussy) They went together well at the corners (not too easy not too tight) and the lip which holds the canvas away from the bar is substantial. I think they are a great value. Also being medium duty, I think they would actually work for pretty big canvases with a cross bar.

I once shopped around for the stretcher bars. I got a very high price in PeralPaint for the exactly the same product, and the same price in a company of California but the worst quality.

good weight- not too heavy but thick enough for good side view of canvas. Very pleased with the large size I ordered. Corners squared easily--where it was a strain with heavier bars.
