Best Heavy Duty Stretcher Bars are made of strong, kiln-dried, knot-free pine sourced from Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified suppliers.
The stretcher bars have a 1-1/2" profile and are 2" wide. Each bar's profile has a slightly rounded edge with a 1/2" rise. This prevents sagging and helps eliminate ghost impressions on your final stretched canvas.

Good Quality, fast arrival

I stretched a giclee on canvas on the stretchers I bought from Blick. Since it was large, I used a cross bar. I really like how it went together. Much better quality than I have found at local retail stores.
Quality Stretcher Bars

I'm using these along with cross braces for 20 x 48 inches linen panels. The heavy duty stretchers hold up to linen which shrinks much more than cotton after applying gesso and puts a strain on stretchers. These hold up very well to the task.

Really, Really, Heavy-Duty...

The slotted, mitered corners are very fragile. Some had small cracks in the tongues that created some anxiety when about to join the pieces together. One stretcher was unusable, because a corner tongue was broken off in transit. Some of the tongues are too thick to fit into the opposing grooves and had to be filed down. Invariably, the filing on some was too much and created a loose fit. I would recommend moving up to a better quality brand, if you can afford it.
I have used only these for years now, always from Dick Blick

We have a photography gallery and create gallery wrapped artworks that our customers truly appreciate. These stretcher bars have very good matching components and never warp or degrade.
I would buy it again

Good quality, solid price

I ordered a set of Best heavy duty stretcher bars with a single crossbar. The shipment arrived promptly, but the crossbar connectors were absent. When I called Blick and spoke to customer service, it was like talking to a friend. The representative with whom I spoke was polite and cheerful; he apologized for the omission and arranged for rapid shipment of the missing parts. They arrived a couple days later. A typically positive experience at Dick Blick's.
Great Stretcher Bars

Great stretcher bars! Very strong. One comment, I would design a way to fit the cross braces into the wood itself. Cut a groove. Also there needs to be more cross brace sizes.
Maybe once more

I don't know if I will buy these online again. The problem is that three of the four corners were able reach right angles while being flush, but the fourth bar/fourth corner was impossible to square and have flush. The result is a corner that is maybe 1/4-1/8" separated. If I use the bars and stretch my own canvas, then it's likely that anyone who stretches with keys will rip the canvas. My other complaint is that the wood shed or splintered easily. The fit is tight, but even using the utmost care and the lightest possible taps, the wood still splintered on the edge. Pros- Thick sturdy wood. Mostly smooth, but needed a fine sanding. came in a good box, well packaged. Cheap cost.Cons- Wood splinters easily, not very good fit between bars. It's hard to see if they will square properly from buying online. No keys, but not really a big issue. So, I don't know if I'd ever give these another chance. They may be cheap, but it looks like bent bars and wrongly fitting bars are common enough I might just buy from a local supplier instead (maybe even the local blick store).
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Commercial quality - Great Pricing

I own a print shop and used these on 7 large canvas prints for a new restaurant. The wood was straight and all the corners fit snug. For the larger ones I used the cross members. The plastic bracket mounts work great. I used all brands of stretcher bars in the past, but now I will only use these. Highly recommended for the price and quality.
