The smooth, sanded surface and edges on these Baltic Birch Panels make them ideal for detailed work. They also can be used with oil, acrylic, and encaustic paints — and they're a great surface for mounting prints, canvases, collages, and other mixed-media artworks.

I am wood burning images into fourteen panels for an outdoor Stations of the Cross project. The grain and finish for the panels was excellent for wood burning.

These birch panels are really quite nice for oil studies. I use 5 coats of gesso, though. Also - gesso the back to control warping (though none have bent on me). These are very economical surfaces to create studies for larger works, travel well, and will see extensive use in plein air for me this year.
