Mingeishi refers to folk craft paper, or all-purpose paper. The word Mingei, coined by Soetsu Yanagi, combines the Japanese words for all people (min) and art (gei). As the name implies, Mingeishi is a paper that is ideal for all printing, printmaking, and decorative applications.
Handmade from kozo, hemp, and sulphite pulp, this 45 gsm paper is acid-free with four deckle edges and a laid finish. It is available in three colors — Bright White, White, and Natural.
Mingeishi is manufactured by the Fujimori family, who have owned and operated the Awagami paper factory since the late 1700s. The manufacture of this paper combines long-standing Japanese papermaking traditions with modern techniques and processes.
