I purchased the largest size and couldn't be happier! It's much heavier in weight than I thought it would be and built SOLID. The light is brilliant - incredibly bright and cool to the touch. With 30,000 hours of illumination, I expect to die before this unit does. It's very slim in design too. I really love the large surface area and highly recommend you go bigger than you think you need. If you are going to spend the money, then size up.

I purchased the largest size. It's fantastic. Much better than my previous lightbox from another company. Slim and easy to clean glass. Bright, but easy on the eyes. Would definitely recommend. Love, love, love....

The light pad is a great product. It is extremely bright! I bought the 12x17 in. light pad. It's huge! I could of got by with a smaller one but this one is great especially if you don' t need to travel with it. I guess it depends on what you use it for. For doing smaller portraits and other drawings the 9x12 would be plenty but it doesn't hurt to have a bigger one if you want to spend the money

Got the 9X12 thought it want going to be big enough buy its perfect for a 8 1/2 X 11. Does not get hot. Brighter than my fluorescent light box.

This is a very well designed, solidly built product. I've used it for roughly six months and have been very happy with it. Faint scratches appear on the top with use, but that's really the only negative. Someone downgraded the unit because the led bulbs aren't replaceable. Given that the bulbs last up to 30,000 hours and assuming they'll last at 25,000 hours, if a person were to use the unit 4 hours per day for 300 days every year, the bulbs would last 21 years. I consider bulb replacement a non-issue. I purchased the 9x12 and I might have been happier with the 12x17; sometimes the 9x12 reels a little cramped.

Power supply failed day two. Dick Blick did send out a whole new replacement board and power supply to me at no cost.

Pros:
I just got mine yesterday and couldn't be happier. The size is perfect. It is slim yet solid - very nice. The light is bright and even. It is everything I had hoped it would be.

Cons:
The soft suede cover it comes with is a bit too tight, which makes it not so convenient to take off and put on. On the other hand, I didn't expect it to come with a cover at all.

This light box is perfect for serious artists! Very sturdy and bright. It is slim enough to slide into the brackets under my glass drafting table as described by the manufacturer. I'm delighted with it and recommend for any serious art student. Also a great price compared to other vendors online.
